Special Notes:
For F8 SSD and F8 SSD Plus users: Before updating, first update the system to 6.0.794. The firmware will be updated during the system update. If you installed 6.0.794 directly using an installation package, please manually update once again; otherwise, you may encounter the issue described in this post: viewtopic.php?p=49723#p49723
For F2-223, F2-423, F4-223, F4-423, T6-423, T9-423, T12-423, U4-423, U8-423, and U12-423 users: If your system is currently installed on, or you plan to install it on, an M.2 NVMe SSD, please follow the guide to adjust the BIOS boot order before updating: viewtopic.php?t=9417.

For T9-450, T12-450, and U8-450 users, before updating, migrate the system disk from the NVMe M.2 SSD to an HDD. Otherwise, after the update, the device will return to the system installation page. If the device fails to boot, remove the USB boot device and power it on again.
Warnings:
1. This update applies only to TOS 6.0.794. It does not apply to TOS 7 Beta users. TOS 7 Beta users should refer to the corresponding update guide.
2. TOS 7 uses a new permission management method. After updating, permission conversion is required, and automatic conversion is recommended. This process may take a long time, so please wait patiently. For example, 400,000 folders may take about 3 hours.
3. After updating, in addition to storage pools and volumes in normal use, Storage Manager may display several damaged storage pools and volumes caused by abnormal operations in TOS 6, such as directly removing disks. If you confirm they are no longer used, you can delete them directly.
4. After the system update, files maintained by the system in the root file system will be consistent with the TOS 7 installation package, and some built-in files and tools will be removed. Therefore, if an application that depends on PHP 7.4 cannot be opened after the update, go to App Center and install the PHP 7.4 dependency required by that application. Affected software includes: Web Server, VirtualBox,Tailscale, FreshRSS, Joomla!, MantisBT, MyBB, Net2FTP, MyWebSQL, Nextcloud, e107_cms, elFinder, IBOS, MariaDB, phpBB, Oray Pgyer, phpMyAdmin, WordPress, ZenTao, and Xunlei.
5. This version does not yet support system disk hibernation. Data disks can hibernate, and system disk hibernation will be implemented in a later version.
6. The VMs virtualization solution has been launched at the same time, and VirtualBox maintenance will soon be discontinued. To ensure the best user experience, users who are still using VirtualBox are advised to migrate their existing virtual systems to the VMs app within one month after the official release, so they can benefit from better performance and long-term technical support.
Notes:
1. In theory, the update will not affect hard disk data, but for safety, be sure to back up important data.
2. If your shared folders were generated by the Snapshot application, you need to reconfigure permissions after the update.
3. After the update, existing share links, desktop messages, recent access records, application logs, system logs, and SMART test schedules will be cleared.
4. After the update, the resource dashboard, navigation bar icons, and Debug mode will be restored to the system defaults.
5. Due to changes in security protocols, some applications need to be updated or reconfigured after the update, and community applications may need to be downloaded and installed again.
6. If you have modified the BIOS boot order, before updating, adjust it so that the TOS system disk has priority over USB drives and other boot devices. Otherwise, the device may enter the system installation interface again after the update.
7. TOS 6 system configuration cannot be restored directly to TOS 7. After updating, back up the configuration again.
8. After the update, all remote mounting functions (such as SMB, NFS, and WebDAV) will be migrated to the Remote Folder module in the lower-left corner of File Manager for unified management and connection. Existing mount tasks will remain unaffected.
9. After the update, ISO shared folder mounting will be migrated to File Manager. You can click an ISO file directly in File Manager to mount it without additional operations.
10. After the update, email push notifications for some functions will not be enabled by default. If you need to receive email notifications, go to General Settings > Notifications > System Notifications to enable them.
11. If the update gets stuck at 9%, please wait 1–3 minutes. If there is still no response after 10 minutes, simply refresh the browser.
12. Before updating, make sure your primary volume, usually volume1, has at least 3 GB of available space. Insufficient space may cause the update to fail.
13. After the update, the device IP address may change. Please use the TNAS PC client to search for and connect to the device again.

Re: TOS 7 Is Now Out of Beta — Official Release
I'm just trying to get my head around the bios requirements (or not) of different models.
Is there any chance you could link in .pdf versions of these notes -
especially the linked pages for bios updates - so than we can actually have the whole thing to hand to read in case of need.
I am a bit confused (more than normal
) trying to differentiate between the notices given in the control panel concerning available updates and then finding that update might not actually be a correct path to follow.
{And then, my F5-221 with latest Tos6 version, prescribed os partition size and suitable Bios (presumed) does NOT tell me the update to TOS7 is available.}
Note to Users:
Check the release notes carefully AND confirm your BIOS version (if applicable) BEFORE you follow update instructions from the Control Panel.

Re: TOS 7 Is Now Out of Beta — Official Release
Yes this update applies only to TOS 6.0.794. It does not apply to TOS 7 Beta users
The version numbers are used to differentiate between versions of TOS so that users of different versions can know more clearly which installation package they need to use.

Re: TOS 7 Is Now Out of Beta — Official Release
will the F6-424Max need changing the boot order as other 424 models? Its in the list of applicable models but not within the specific guides for year models.
Re: TOS 7 Is Now Out of Beta — Official Release
Is this version compatible to F2-223? I have updated it to TOS 7 but the network connectivity loss after awhile.
Re: TOS 7 Is Now Out of Beta — Official Release
I have to ask this, why wait until the day TOS 7 is released and out of beta to inform folks that certain models need an BIOS update and/or BIOS settings changed in certain situations. Seriously unless this was discovered in the last few days, why not communicate this a few weeks ago.
F6-424 & F4-425 Plus at 7.0.0777
F4-424 Pro also at 7.0.0777
D4-320
F4-424 Pro also at 7.0.0777
