[Help] Upgrade to TOS 6

Post by iou40p »

Hi All,

I’m looking to upgrade my F5-422 with bios version MAPL0304V22 from TOS 5.1.131 to TOS 6. I’ve read some posts and believe my unit is compatible. Can someone confirm this? If it is compatible, which file should I download for the update? I can only find updates to previous TOS 6 versions that aren’t compatible to upgrade from.

Thanks for any help.

What's the size of your system "/" partition?

It needs to be ~8 GB for you to do an in-place upgrade, but based on that TOS 5.1.131, it is likely 2 GB, so you would need to do a clean installation to install TOS 6.×.

Your initial boot environment drive needs to be upgraded or replaced with a newer one, which you can make yourself via the guide @ viewtopic.php?t=6433 (that UEFI version you have is compatible).

Your device can be upgraded to TOS 6. Please upgrade to 5.1.145 first, then upgrade to TOS 6.

failed to update the size of your system partition is less than 8Gb

Due to the inability to expand system partitions through upgrade, you can only choose to backup data, format the hard drive, and reinstall TOS. The following are recommended methods for handling:
1. Please backup your data. After completing the backup, format the hard drive and reinstall TOS 5.1.145 before upgrading to TOS6.
2. You can also format the hard drive after backing up data and create a TOS6 boot system. Please refer to the following link for detailed steps: viewtopic.php?t=6433
Then, follow method B in this link to reinstall the TOS system: viewtopic.php?t=423 .

saludos cordiales.
