[Help] F4-220 Won't Boot

Post by bbell »

My F4-220 was running without issue and showed all green status lights. Yesterday, it stopped connecting to my network. I rebooted the device using the power button on the front of the unit. When powering back on, I get a green power light, but the drive lights only show red, and I get no network connectivity.

For troubleshooting:
  • Attempted an additional reboot
Unplugged the device for 10 minutes and plugged back in
    Removed the drive and rebooted
Pressed and held the power button
All flows yield the same result.I saw troubleshooting to press a reset button on the rear of the unit, but I could not locate one on my unit.

What can I attempt next to restore my device and hopefully my data?

Hello, if you can't find the NAS using TNAS PC, try removing all the hard drives and restarting the NAS, then use TNAS PC to search for the NAS. Refer to this link to reinstall the system: viewtopic.php?t=423, this will not affect the data on the NAS.

If the empty machine starts up and you can only hear a single beep, it might be a boot system failure. Refer to this link to recreate the boot system: viewtopic.php?t=6433.

Thank you for the response. I attempted flashing the drive, installing it, and power the unit on without drives inserted. I still get no new response. Just a green power light, and red lights for the drive bays. The network light never comes on and there are no tones heard.

Are there other next steps I can attempt?

If the computer starts up without inserting a hard drive and no sound is heard, it may be a hardware issue:

Thank you CursaYang. I followed the instructions on the page and replaced the battery on the board. That did not seem to resolve me issue. I still am not getting any response from the unit. Just the same green power light and red lights for the drive indicators when I attempt to boot with no sound or response after.

Should I assume this drive is just dead now? Can a new motherboard be acquired?

Hello!
Based on our communication, the issue is likely related to the hardware of the F4-220's motherboard. It's important to note that the F4-220 model has been discontinued for many years. May I ask when you purchased this product? How many hard drives are installed in your F4-220 device?

Given the current situation, we recommend that you contact TerraMaster's sales support team on Amazon. They can provide you with a discounted offer to facilitate the purchase of our new 4-bay model (we recommend choosing a device with an M.2 slot). Once you have acquired the new device, we can arrange for a technician to remotely assist you with the data migration process.

I purchased the drive in 2019. I was not seeing an option for support on Amazon. Can you help direct to me that contact option?
