Should I return my Terramaster and buy a Synology NAS?

Post by AllPowerfulOz »

Man this thing pisses me off. I've spent more time trying to troubleshoot than actually doing cool stuff.

I've read the FAQs about fixing the storage pool that doesn't show the maximum amount of storage. I've installed PUTTY. Putty won't connect and refuses the connection. Does anyone have tips on how to fix this? Thanks in advance

Based on your screenshot, the capacity appears to be normal. Since TRAID is a protection-type array, one hard drive is used as a redundancy disk.
This may be the reason for the relatively small available capacity. You can refer to the following information for further review and confirmation:

Introduce TRAID details: https://www.terra-master.com/global/terramaster-traid
You can check whether the SSH is enabled: viewtopic.php?t=2350

The usable space of a 3 TB drive is about 2.72 TB. With three drives installed, assuming TRAID or RAID 5, you will have two drives worth of usable space with one being the parity/backup drive. That's where the 5.44 TB comes from; you aren't missing any storage. Also, you are looking at the Pool management tab, you gotta look at the Volume management tab.

I installed 3x 18TB drives in TRAID and have 32.72TB usable space. After synchronizing (setting up) my TRAID, it said that 2TB was installed already. I assume the 2TB is raid management files and other backend files.

I hope I understood what you were meaning, lol
