yes, i waited and a dialog box opened by notification area and said conversion was complete. I have a lot of data but not many folders.

I just restored back to tos 6.0974 and am having promising results.

Edit: This is amazing. I reinstalled tos 6.0974 using win 11 and tnas client after pulling disks after shutdown and then restarting. During this process, the tnas install froze and was stuck at 60% for like 10-15 mins (this did not happen last night when I reverted back to 6.0974). It seems to be working fantastico after recreating accts and letting it scan/update file perms.

Again, I did not check usb boot for ntfs as was warned. Its on me and whoever helped, thank you!

Did have problem updating TOS 6 to TOS7 (posted on "How to Properly Install and Use TOS 7 on the 424 Series TNAS") Simply becasue I am suppose to disconnect the D4-320 before the upgrade, I have a F4-424, nvme. M2 ssd is system disk and Volume 1, F4-424 hard disks Traid Volume 2 and D4-320 Traid Volume 3. The update ended up my D4-320 will not sleep keep spinning for three days, just like you, lucky I can get back to TOS 6 and figured out how to upgrade to TOS 7 and did it again but this time made a mistake and that is after the update forgot to reconnect the D4-320 and did the permissions conversion, lucky after I connected the D4-320 back to F4-424 there is no errors, eveything works fine and the D4-320 will sleep after 30 minutes. What a trip for this upgrade.

No, thank you. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and try to reproduce the issue. It’s possible that the update didn’t take full effect on your device for some unknown reason.
Okay. I'll test again after the next update and report the results.

Just a thought - could it be because I'm using RAID1 rather than TRAID?

I turned on debug mode and have found that one HDD is inactive while the other is active and they swap over every 30 minutes.
This is with the smartmontools service running. If the service is stopped then both HDDs sleep (not confirmed from the log, just from the lack of noise).
Obviously, I don't know what happens with a RAID more complex than RAID1.

I hope this helps someone, somewhere.....

It´s exact the same Problem at my NAS.

maybe this one should be transmitted to the development team ;-)

TNAS TOSDaemon[15318]: [error] failed to parse field: GroupList, error: unsupported data type: &[]

ChatGPT:
My assumption is that TOS 7 Desktop has a bug handling an admin account with UID 0 and fails when parsing the GroupList field.
The NAS works normally; the errors appear to be cosmetic.
Hi,
We are currently trying to verify the situation you mentioned.
If possible, we would like to know which specific steps you took to trigger this error log.

We will continue to track and analyze the issues in question. May we also ask whether you are using a RAID 1 configuration, like snapsh0t?

I emailed support and they said to manually download storage manager 1.062 and see if that works. I did that and the permissions are all still screwed. No user can write to their home dirs, many files open in read only mode...wtf...first time I have ever had a problem upgrading in 7 yrs.

I got 40tb backed up but at gig speed, will take 8 days to restore....lol..and i had a perfectly working nas. haha.

I did not check explicitly for ntfs on boot usb drive as I thought I had changed it to fat partition some time ago. This is vanilla nas that is used only for smb sharing and no plex or any other non default apps installed. Just wow! Just wow!

edit: I also let it do the auto conversion of files after logging in the first time to tos 7.0804 and now apparently its backup restore time..see you in 8 days ffs...lololol
Hi,
We're sorry to hear that you encountered an unexpected permission‑related issue during the upgrade.

If you still plan to upgrade TOS in the future and run into the issue again (hopefully not), we suggest coming here for online consultation right away.

Thank you for the feedback. To better assist you in confirming whether there are any abnormalities in the TOS system, please send the complete log to our technical support email at [email protected] via email, and attach the forum link and your forum ID as well.
Status on my issue that I emailed on?

Thanks

I´m using Raid0 on both NAS.
