When restarting the device, you can only hear a single beep sound, which usually indicates a problem with the boot system. If you have already recreated the boot system by referring to forum posts, it may be that the internal USB drive is damaged. You can replace the USB drive and recreate the boot system.
Internal USB drive? Is there a USB drive installed inside the chassis of the F5-221???

For all ×86/×64 TNAS series devices prior to the current 425 series, there has been an internal initial bootloader environment (initboot) USB drive which facilitates the installation of TOS onto installed/installed HDDs and/or NVMe drives [the 425 series devices have moved to a USB Disk On Module (USB DOM), versus the flash drive used previously].
For your 221 series TNAS, here's an image of its internal location (behind the HDMI port & internal jst FAN headers):
The 425 series TNAS has the following module (it's located behind the front power button & USB 3.2 Gen 1 port):

FYI I have just successfully installed TOS7 on my F2-221 up to and including 7.0.0364 and it appears to be functional (as far as my needs go!).

Regarding the Docker permission issue, the fix for this problem has not yet been merged into the current version. We expect to resolve this issue in the next release. Additionally, the Beta version of TOS 7 is expected to be updated on a weekly basis.
It would be nice to see a list of releases, where you would have:
- Version 7.0.??? - Released 12/??/2025
- Version 7.0.0364 - Released 1/5/2026
- Version xxx - Released MM/DD/2026
From that last release, I would expect 1/12/2026, but I don't know if there was a December release, or if 7.0.0364 was the first released beta.
Thanks, Brian

Adding that these are only available as 'updates (*.bz2) and cannot be installed as full OS builds. Also the referenced updates may only be available as downloads from within the TOS control panel. They are not (as they say) "public domain". If you are part of the Beta/insider preview cohort you will see when updates are available from the control panel.

Not sure if this is related to the Beta - but I think it is. Here it goes:
I installed TOS 7 a couple of versions ago, and have upgraded to the current 7.0.0364. During my evaluation I've needed to remove the ethernet cable and a few times I inserted it in the second LAN 2 port. Now I keep getting the an error where DNS name resolution is not working and therefor I cannot check for updates. When I restart the NAS sometimes it starts working again. If I open the terminal on the NAS and ping google.com I get "ping: google.com: Temporary failure in name resolution". I've had this error on previous versions of TOS 7 beta.
DNS is working on other computers and servers. I'll send an email to
[email protected] too.

After some testing I think the issue I'm experiencing is related to tailscale. Need to look into this. After I restarted tailscale it started working again.

Hi there, any clue if TOS7 will support wireguard?
ATM at TOS6, I'm not able to spin up even wireguard with docker container because for some weird reason netscript tries to disable wg0 interface and removes default route.
