Hello,

I own a F8 SSD running 6.0.794 TOS version. I'm a bit confused about what I'm supposed to do in order to install sucessfully TOS 7.0.0747. Could you please explain me the required steps?

My F8 SSD SSD is running fine on 6.0.794 TOS version and I absolutely want to avoid an update that will make it failing to boot properly or repeatedly restarting automatically. I'm not a tecnical expert and what is decribed here viewtopic.php?p=49723#p49723 really scares me...

Thanks in advance for your answer!

That guide is only intended for units running older motherboard BIOS or PCIe bridge firmware. If your device already has the updated firmware, you do not need to perform those complex manual steps.

Since your F8 SSD is already running TOS 6.0.794, you already meet the base OS version requirement.

Recommended Steps:

1. Check Your BIOS Version via the Web UI (No terminal required):
  • Go to Control Panel > General Settings > System / Hardware Information.
  • If your BIOS version is MADN0301.V07 or higher, no manual BIOS flashing is needed.
2. Contact Support for Assistance (if needed):

If your BIOS version is lower than V07, or if you feel uncomfortable checking/upgrading firmware via the command line, you can contact our technical support team via the link below to assist you with a safe upgrade:https://salesiq.zohopublic.com/signatur ... 97d0be8892

3. Perform Manual Update to TOS 7:
  • Once verified, download the official TOS 7 update package.
  • Go to TOS > Control Panel > General Settings > System, choose manual update, and upload the package to proceed with the upgrade.

My F6-424 (TOS 6.0.794) is on the list of applicable models, but i checked and the bio version is MADN0102.V05, which is lower than the one you mentioned (MADN0301.V07). So does that mean i have to perform those complex manual steps?

If it's not as simple as directly updating the firmware as before (I'm not tech-savvy), will i be missing important security features if i stay on TOS 6.0.794? I can't afford to lose access to my NAS :?

Nice Job Terramaster!
I have two Terramaster F8 ssd units and three Terramaster D4-320 usb extensions.
After following your directions, both F8 ssd servers and all three usb D4-320 units are online with no errors!
I needed to update both F8 ssd bios and firmware, but that went very smooth.
After updating, the installation of TOS 7 was no problem.
Even the second update to 7.0.1130 went very smooth.
Thank you guys for posting all that information and how to get the job done correctly. :D

For the F6-424, you do not need to perform those complex prerequisite steps or BIOS updates. You can directly upgrade to TOS 7 by manually uploading the update package.

While we recommend upgrading to TOS 7 to experience the latest features and enhancements, staying on TOS 6.0.794 remains a safe and reliable choice, and you will not miss out on critical security features.
