Initially I thought it might be associated with a known bad USB mounted hdd (forgot to remove it before it auto-mounted) but the segfault remained with it removed.
Does not appear to effect nas operation. (so far)

The update to the F4-425 went smoothly. However, the hard drives are once again not going into sleep mode with this version. This worked fine with TOS version 7.0.0601. Also on F2-221.

When updating the F2-221, I again received an error message stating that the update could not be extracted. An update was only possible after enabling debug mode. Updates up to TOS 7.0.0601 also always worked correctly. This has only stopped working on my F2-221 since TOS 7.0.0616. I will install some more RAM today and see what happens. I haven't changed any settings on the NAS related to the previous updates.

Yes, I've just noticed the HDDs in my F2-425+ are still clunking away. I'll try disabling HDD sleep then re-enabling it.

And three hours later they're still clunking. :(

You can use the `hdparm -Y` command to put the hard drive into hibernation mode.

Additionally, you can use the following command to confirm who is waking the hard drive: `blktrace -d /dev/sdX -o - | blkparse -i -`

However, this information must be entered again after a restart.

It looks like the file system is doing some data housekeeping. Follow the tips from customer support to find out which processes are keeping the disk busy.

Sorry for the question, but how do I correctly enter the commands into the terminal so that I get a result?

Please enter the following command in the terminal.

Code: Select all

blktrace -d /dev/sdX -o - | blkparse -i -
Please replace sdX with the actual device name, such as sda.
