Compatible Models:

Warnings!
1. TOS 7.0.0500 adopts a brand-new root file system that is fully compatible with the Ubuntu 22.04 root file system. Please note: After the update, all previous system configurations will be cleared. If you need to retain your configurations, do not proceed with this update.
2. This update only supports upgrading from TOS 5.1.73.
3. The entire upgrade process takes approximately 10 minutes. Please be patient and do not force shutdown or disconnect power during the upgrade.
4. This version no longer provides Surveillance Manager, iSCSI Manager, Portainer, Docker Manager, ZenTao, Verysync, or development tool applications. Please be sure to back up relevant data before upgrading.
5. If you have previously installed the x86 version of TOS 7 on your disk, you may be unable to find your TNAS after updating from TOS 6 β due to permission issues. If this occurs, please refer to Method B to perform an online installation of TOS 7 after the update.
6. After upgrading to TOS 7, rolling back to TOS 5 / TOS 6 is not supported.
7. Domain/LDAP functionality is no longer supported.

Important Notes:
1. The Beta version is an early release of the program that includes most major features, but it is not yet complete and has certain defects. This version is released only to specific groups or the general public for testing and feedback collection. Beta versions are not suitable for work or production environments. If your TNAS device is running business operations or storing important data, please do not participate in this test.
2. Updating the system theoretically does not affect the data on your hard drives. However, for safety, please be sure to back up your data in advance.
3. The update will completely reset the system partition. All your previous system configurations will be cleared. Even if you have backed up configuration files in advance, they cannot be restored in the updated system.
4. After the update, you can go to the TOS Application Center to download the latest version of TNAS PC for Windows or TNAS PC for MAC; otherwise, compatibility issues may occur.
5. After the update, you need to go to the Remote Access module in Control Panel and register a TerraMaster account to reconfigure TNAS.online.
6. After the update, you need to rebuild the media index, then re-enable applications such as Photos and Multimedia Server to use their related features.
7. After updating the system, some applications you have installed may need to be updated or reconfigured to run properly on the new system. For applications downloaded from the Community Apps, you may need to re-download and install the latest version.
8. After updating the system, you need to go to the Shared Folders module in Control Panel and edit the application user permissions for the shared folders corresponding to Aria2, MariaDB, Plex, and Transmission before you can properly enable or use those applications.
9. After updating the system, your VPN Server and Multimedia Server configurations will be cleared. You will need to reconfigure them after updating the applications.
10. After updating the system, applications that rely on databases will need to be reconfigured before use.
11. After updating the system, application information needs to be reinitialized. Therefore, after entering the system, you may need to wait 1–3 minutes before applications can be started and installed properly.
12. This version of file management only supports the "Always Ask" upload mode. Issues with other modes will be addressed in a future update.
13. If the media index fails to start after reinstalling the system, you can go to the TOS desktop terminal and execute the following command: `systemctl restart mediaindex.service`
14. After updating the system, the device's IP address may change. Please use the TNAS PC desktop client to search and reconnect to the device.

How to Update to TOS 7?
1. Download the TOS 7 update package (MD5:e91690418b5f326dcaf0b895b4a38863 ). This only supports TOS 5.1.73 and above. Do not update from other TOS versions.
2. Go to TOS > Control Panel > General Settings > System.
3. Under "Manual Update", select the update package to upload.
4. Click "Apply" once, then wait for the upload. Do not click Apply multiple times.
5. After the system update is complete, you need to refresh your browser.
6. Your TNAS IP address may change after the system update. If you cannot connect to your TNAS using the previous IP address, use the TNAS PC client to search for the new IP address.

Client Downloads:
1. Download TNAS PC 5.2.520 for Windows OS.
2. Download TNAS PC 5.2.520 for macOS (x86 and ARM architectures).

Thank you for the update.

There seems to be a lot of contradictions in the above instructions. What are the recommended instructions to upgrade for those of us on TOS6 who will need downgrade first to 5.1.73? The TOS6 install instructions stated that downgrading wasn't recommended.

We sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding. After verification, the TOS6 ARM Beta system can be directly upgraded to the TOS7 ARM Beta version.

Thank you very much! I installed it on top of TOS6 on F2-212, I didn't seem to find any problems. Special thanks for the terminal in which the necessary commands work wonderfully, for example apt update!

Did I understand correctly that installing TOS7 changes the bootloader? Because after installing TOS7 on an empty HDD for testing, switching to another HDD with TOS5 didn't boot. An attempt to restore the TOS5 boot failed. When booting TNAS without disks, it required a TOS6 or later bootloader.

So if I upgrade from 5.1 now, will there be Docker?

As the notes mention, there's no docker manager on TOS 7 beta nor was there on TOS 6 betas.

If you are comfortable/proficient with CLI/terminal, Docker itself should be possible to install via SSH, as long as it's the version meant for Ubuntu ARMv8 & images will also need to have similar compatibility (just as it likely did on TOS 5).

Could there be a manager in the future on stable builds? That's for TerraMaster to build & detail should they choose to develop a GUI interface for it.
