[Help] Moving HDD's from existing NAS to new one, possible?

Post by monkeyboy72 »

Hi I currently have a F2-221 in JBOD x2 8tb disks with just Plex server installed on TOS 6.

I am about to buy either a F2-224 or 225 and am really hoping it's possible to pull the drives out of the 221 and put straight into the new NAS without having to start from scratch, is this possible please (I really hope so).

Thanks

You cannot directly use it in a new model because the boot methods of the two models are different. You can refer to this for the boot method:
viewtopic.php?t=6878

You can first back up your important data and system configuration, then reinstall the TOS system after changing the model, and finally restore the system configuration.
Although under normal circumstances reinstalling the system will only affect the boot partition and system partition data on your disk, it is strongly recommended that you back up your important data.

How to reinstall the system: viewtopic.php?t=423

UPDATE GOOD NEWS: About an hour ago I received from Amazon a F2-425, I took the drives out of the 221 and placed them into the 425, turned the 425 on whilst pushing the reset button on the back, was then prompted to install TOS onto the 425 and amazingly everything works exactly as before, no data loss no messing around, am actually quite surprised how simple the whole process was, thanks

The only weird thing is it thinks I have a F4-425?? not sure why.

Thank you for promptly reporting the issue. After verification, the F2-425 and F4-425 models use the same PCBA motherboard design and are distinguished only by the preset model field in the BIOS. This issue may have been caused by mixed use of motherboards during production, and we sincerely apologize for this. Please contact the technical support team via email at support(at)terra-master.com, and we will provide the BIOS for the F2-425. You can use this BIOS to correct the model designation.

Hello! To investigate potential issues that may have occurred during production, could you please provide the SN serial number labeled on the bottom of the product? We will conduct an internal check based on this information. Thank you for your cooperation!
