Should ASPM be working well on PCIe Ports 11 and 12? I am using Unraid 7.2.0 with my F8 SSD Plus. I have 4 Kingston nvme KC300 drives with firmware EIFK51.2. in slots 1, 5, 6 and 7. ASPM was already working between the drive in slot 1 and the ASM2806 PCIe switch. But I could not get anything else to work until I saw this post! Thank you!

I did the following:
  • Updated the BIOS from version MADN0301.V02 to MADN0301.V07;
  • Updated the ASM2806 PCIe switch firmware from version 17 11 01 40 00 00 to 24 08 21 40 00 00 ;
  • Updated the ACQ113C NIC firmware from 1.3.30 to 1.5.42;
  • Enabled ASPM [L1] on all PCIe ports using the hidden menu in the new version of the BIOS.
ASPM seems to be working (no long term testing yet). However, the drives in nvme slots 5 and 6 stopped being recognized by Unraid until I disable ASPM for PCIe Ports 11 and 12. If I move the drives to other slots with ASPM [L1] it works. This is how I believe the PCIe ports are mapped:

PCIe port 1 (x2) ACQ113C NIC
PCIe port 4 (x1) nvme slot 7
PCIe port 7 (x1) nvme slot 8
PCIe port 9 (x2) ASM2806 PCIe switch to nvme slots 1, 2, 3 and 4
PCIe port 11 (x1) nvme slot 5
PCIe port 12 (x1) nvme slot 6

I am wondering if there are any known issues with PCIe ports 11 and 12 using ASPM ?

We did not observe a similar situation in the laboratory. We suspect this may be a compatibility issue with the KC51.2 SSD. Please try using Slot 7 and Slot 8, both of which are native NVMe slots like Slot 5 and Slot 6, and the situation should be the same.
If you have SSDs of other models, please attempt to replace them and check if the same issue persists.

Thank you for the quick response! As I mentioned previously, I had a KC51.2 SSD in slot 7 with ASPM enabled and it was working. I am now using the KC51.2 SSD in slots 1, 2, 7 and 8 with ASPM enabled and it works in all these slots! For now, I only have 4 drives, so I have options. My preference was to populate native slots for my main pool. Maybe it does not really matter.

I chose the Kingston KC3000 because they are recommended on the compatibility list found here:
https://www.terra-master.com/pages/comp ... tab_bgphnX

I have a Samsung SSD 990 PRO 4TB with firmware 7B2QJXD7 that I use in the D1 SSD Plus. I added the drive in slot 6 with ASPM enable. It worked!

There is definitely a ASPM compatibility issue with the KC51.2 ssd drive in slots 5 or 6 but not in slots 7 or 8.

What are the next steps ?

It appears there is indeed a compatibility issue.
ASPM is enabled by default, but if there are compatibility problems, you can disable it.
We will check the situation you mentioned.
Additionally, please inform me of the capacity of the KC3000 SSD that is experiencing compatibility issues.

Thank you for looking into this. I have KC3000 SSD 2TB and 1TB. They both have the same firmware and same problem in slots 5 and 6 with ASPM enabled.
