I have already replied with all the above to the last email your engineer ("Clem") sent me. Thank you.
Re: [Help] "RAID is degraded" message twice in two weeks
Keeping this thread up to date for anybody interested. Support have confirmed there is a hardware issue with my NAS and sanctioned a replacement. I am of course disappointed my unit is faulty, but really cannot fault the Support team / their issue handling process - thank you very much for your speedy attention.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We have completed the inspection. Please continue to communicate with us via email.NinjaDan wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025, 14:54 The NAS worked as expected yesterday.
But first thing this AM, when I went to wake it from overnight "sleep", the alarm immediately started beeping and again "The RAID in storage pool 1 has been degraded!"
Am generating a System Report now and will upload/email via WeTransfer... Done.
I have zero faith in this unit. Unless you can provide explicit evidence from the SR that I have an intermittently faulty HD (NB all are brand new Ironwolf NAS drives and showing as "Good" in Control Panel / Hard Drive) I will be returning it.
Re: [Help] "RAID is degraded" message twice in two weeks
Update: received my replacement NAS yesterday, volumes are building today... Fingers Xed it wakes up happy tomorrow
Thank you to service and sales support teams for processing a replacement speedily.
NOT RESOLVED -- Re: [Help] "RAID is degraded" message twice in two weeks
This evening, after approx. 8hrs "asleep", the moment I accessed my replacement NAS it too started beeping "RAID is in degraded state".
Last time you reviewed my System Report and confirmed my first unit was faulty; this new one (assuming it is a new one) exhibits the same fault.
I will be returning it for my money back. And this time I want the return postage refunded too.

Re: [Help] "RAID is degraded" message twice in two weeks
If the array still enters degraded mode intermittently after NAS device replacement, this indicates the issue is unrelated to the NAS. The root cause most likely lies with disk malfunctions – either erratic behavior or occasional unresponsiveness, causing the system to fail in detecting block devices and triggering array degradation. As for why the disks operate erratically, I cannot determine at this stage.

Re: [Help] "RAID is degraded" message twice in two weeks
Update incase anybody reading is interested. I returned the second Terramaster NAS for a refund via Amazon, bought a Ugreen NAS and put in it the same 3x Ironwolf HDs where they have behaved faultlessly for nearly two weeks - all HDs reporting "Normal" and RAID is functioning without issue/alarm. I don't know what about my situation/setup was incompatible with the Terramaster, but the Ugreen is not so afflicted.
