[Help] SMB Connection Drops on macOS 15 - Need Help! (F4-424 Pro, TOS 6.0.694)

Hi everyone,

I'm using a TerraMaster F4-424 Pro running TOS 6.0.694-00165 with several Macs on macOS 15.5, and I'm having persistent SMB connection issues that are driving me crazy. Hoping someone here has found a solution!

My SMB connections keep dropping randomly - I get the "spinning wheel" in Finder, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign for about 60-90 seconds, then everything works again. The weird thing is that a Windows 11 machine connects to the same NAS perfectly with no issues at all.

I've been reading through this forum and tried pretty much everything I could find:
- Disabled the Recycle Bin on shared folders (saw TMzethar's recommendation)
- Turned off SMB Multichannel, Opportunistic Locking, and Durable Handles
- No USB drives connected to avoid any kernel panic issues
- Applied all the VFS fruit settings for better Mac compatibility

Ping works fine even during the disconnections
Same network works perfectly with a Synology NAS

I previously had an issue where created files would appear grayed out which that has been fixed with the latest TOS version but this problems with the smb connection dropping makes it pretty much unusable.

Current SMB settings on TOS
vfs objects=fruit streams_xattr
fruit:metadata=netatalk
fruit:resource=file
fruit:locking=none
oplocks=no
durable handles=no
force create mode = 0664
force directory mode = 0775
force group = allusers

Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen it. I actually haven't had this problem with the synology but I guess maybe it's because we use it differently than the TNAS now. Will try some of the proposed solutions to see if it helps.

Hi,

I have issues too with latest MacOS 15 ( Apple silicon ), worked flawless until latest updates. I opened a ticket to terra mater but no resolution answers yet. I can connect to SMB share on my terramaster, I can read files but I cannot write . If I crate a new folder I got "untitled folder with a no access symbol in it



and I Cannot remove it unless I do it from terminal in web gui... never seen something like that. I can connect in NFS from Linux without issues.
Last info , with Windows 11 no issues at all...

Tried to change username with capital letters, no changes.

I tried the solutions from the other posts, it seems a bit better but the connexion still drops a few times a day
I'll contact tech support to see if they can help.
