[Help] Plex won’t recognise USB drive / Can’t create USB Shared folder

Hello,

I have multimedia on my USB drive that I’m trying to add to my Plex library.

Plex will only allow me to add libraries in my HDD shared folder. There doesn’t seem to be any way for me to create a shared folder on the USB drive.

This seems like a big issue. Is there no way for me to get Plex to use my USB drive as a library?

Hi. You can usually find the directory of the USB drive here and add it to the Plex index.(TOS5/TOS6)
/Volume1/@usb/usbshare1

Plex can see "/Volume1/@usb/usbshare1" but then when I open that folder Plex cannot see any of the media folder or media files that's inside the USB drive.

It just thinks /Volume1/@usb/usbshare1 is totally empty and cannot see any folders or files inside it.

The 'plex' user has Allow permission to access the USB drive.

I was able to solve this by doing "chmod -R 777 '/Volume1/@usb/usbshare_sda1/Plex'".

Is there some setting that can fix this going forward so I don't have to chmod 777 everytime media is downloaded from sonarr/radarr?

USB drive folders/files can't be read by Plex (Even with permission allowed) unless you do chmod 777
