[Help] Duple Disaster Recovery?
[Help] Duple Disaster Recovery?
If I use Duple to backup my F4-424 to Backblaze B2, and the NAS dies, how do I go about recovering the data on B2?
Re: [Help] Duple Disaster Recovery?
Restoring backup data stored on Backblaze B2 Cloud can be achieved , a disaster recovery tool designed to enhance data security for TNAS devices with backup and restore functionalities. To prevent data loss due to hardware or system failures of TNAS devices, you can use Duple Backup's intuitive user interface to back up important folders or iSCSI LUNs to multiple destinations such as remote TNAS devices, file servers, or cloud storage. It supports incremental and multi-version backups among various backup strategies, making the backup and restore process simple and straightforward. In case of device failure, it allows for quick restoration of lost data. Here is the explanation and usage guide for Duple Backup, which I believe will help you: https://toshelp.terra-master.com/web/#/en/Duple_Backup

Re: [Help] Duple Disaster Recovery?
That doesn't help at all.
What I am asking is if my Terrmaster NAS dies do I have to buy another Terramaster NAS, set it up, etc, and run Duple from that to recover my Duple backup? If this is the case, which it looks like it is, that makes Duple useless for urgent emergency data recovery.

Re: [Help] Duple Disaster Recovery?
Hello! If you are using Hybrid Mode, data restoration is only possible through Duple Backup on a new TNAS in case of TNAS failure. This is because Hybrid Mode is TerraMaster’s proprietary backup method, which applies special fragmented encryption to the original data—making it restorable only via Duple Backup.liability wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025, 05:50 That doesn't help at all.

If the new TNAS model is similar to the old one, you can reuse the original disk by inserting them directly into the new TNAS, retaining both the original system and applications.
However, if you’re using Incremental, Mirror, or Multi-version backup modes, the data is not encrypted. You can directly access the backup files and download them via cloud storage if needed.
Thank you for your support and understanding! I hope this response clears up your concern.
