[Help] Add second Operating system drive.

Post by IDG »

I'm wondering how I would go about adding a second system drive. Currently I have a F4-424 (6.0.650) with 2 HD and 1 m.2 SSD. Currently the Disk Panel shows the system is only on the M.2.Can I add the system OS to either a installed drive or to a newly added drive or another M.2. I have not tried yet I thought I would get some direction before trying. Thank you in advance for any help. I did search but only found something sort of related but required linux skills which I do not have.

If you are using TOS 6.0.650, resetting the system will not affect your data, but it will impact system configurations (including user lists and service configurations). As a precaution, if during the reinstallation process it prompts you to 'delete/format/lose' data, please stop the operation and contact us. Here are the detailed steps:

Ok thank you for the information. I think I need to find a way to back up my configuration or write it down so I can get everything back the way it is. Data is one thing,It's easy to back up but all the time spent configuring my settings was alot. Again thank you for the helpful information

If you are re-installing the same TOS version no,
Control Panel > System > Configuration > Back up system Configuration
can be of some assistance.
Also Control Panel > User > More > Export
will give you a spreadsheet output of users and information BUT NOT PASSWORDS. (Similarly for User Group)
When importing 'Users', you can insert plain text passwords in the appropriate spreadsheet column which will work when imported. Individual users can then change this password or, if the facility has been enabled, treat the password as 'lost'.
These methods are not "all encompassing", but @TM are working on future improvements.
I would suggest, on restore, use the following order:
System Config - User Groups - Users
F5-221 TOS7.0.0777 - 4x4TB (Ironwolf) Traid
F2-424 TOS7.0.0777 - 2x500GB nvme (P3) Traid, 2x6TB HDD (HGST) Traid
F2-221 TOS7.0.0777 - 1x3TB Ext4, 1x4TB Btrfs
F2-425+ TOS7.0.0777 - 2x500GB nvme (P3) Traid, 2x6TB HDD (EXOS) Traid
