T9-450 10GbE ports don't work properly

Post by T9450Guy »

Hello,

I've been struggling to get proper 10GbE speeds when transferring files to my T9-450 over 10GbE.
TNAS can see the T9-450 and shows an IP address but when I try to log in it just freezes and if I try to connect to TOS through a browser the connection times out.

I saw that there was a thread about this very subject started by gio in April 2023 but the thread is locked otherwise I'd have replied to that thread,m so there is clearly an issue.

Has anyone else managed to get their T9-450 working with 10GbE?

The T9-450 uses Intel standard values and is compatible with its own optical ports and most other companies' optical ports. The two optical ports provided are not one for the router and one for the 450, but both are for the two ports of the 450. The router needs to use the optical port designated for the router. If you suspect compatibility issues, you can contact the optical port supplier to modify the values for you.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I'm afraid I don't really understand your response though, it doesn't really make sense.

I have connected one of the 10GbE ports of the T9-450 to one of the 10GbE sockets on a UNIFI Switch which has 2 x 10GbE ports available. They are connected using the Terramaster transceivers and an OM3 optical cable.
My iMac is then also connected to the switch.

The problem is that TNAS PC application does not see the T9-450 when the connection is just over 10GbE and reports "No TNAS device found".

To put it simply, the SFP+ 10GbE fiber optic interface on your UNIFI switch might not be compatible with the SFP+ 10GbE fiber optic interface on the T9-450. To resolve this issue, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the UNIFI switch for assistance in adjusting the settings of the SFP+ 10GbE fiber optic interface to ensure proper connectivity.

Thanks for the further explanation. However, shouldn't the SFP+ 10GbE interface on the T9-450 be compatible with any other 10GbE interface?
What details about the TerraMaster T9-450 interface would I be able to give to UNIFI support in order to enable them to "adjust the settings" of the switch?

The UNIFI Switch is apparently compatible with:
• 10G Bidirectional Single-Mode Optical Module (UACC-OM-SM-10G-S): Supports 10G connections up to 10 km using single-mode fiber with a simplex LC UPC connector.
• 10G Multi-Mode Optical Module (UACC-OM-MM-10G-D): Supports 10G connections up to 300 m using multi-mode fiber with a duplex LC UPC connector.
• 10G Single-Mode Optical Module (UACC-OM-SM-10G-D): Supports 10G connections up to 10 km using single-mode fiber with a duplex LC UPC connector.
• 10G CWDM Single-Mode Optical Module (UACC-OM-SFP10): Supports 10G connections up to 20 km using single-mode fiber with a duplex LC UPC connector.
• SFP+ to RJ45 Adapter (UACC-CM-RJ45-MG): Supports 10G connections up to 100 m using copper with an RJ45 connector.
• 10 Gbps Direct Attach Copper Cable (UDC): Supports 10G connections with cable lengths ranging from 1 to 3 meters.
• 10G Long-Range Direct Attach Cable (UACC-AOC-SFP10): Supports 10G connections with cable lengths ranging from 5 to 30 meters.
