I particularly wanted it to run Plex as a media station, and for general file storage. I use Linux (ZorinOS which is based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS).
I installed an Seagate IronWolf, 8TB drive.
Firstly the advertised Linux support is severely lacking. Downloaded TNAS PC for Ubuntu 5.1.73 and tried to install it, all I get is a black rectangle

Support for Linux is seemingly non-existent. Help tells me what to do for Windows and Mac, despite the NAS running linux itself.
Copying files to the device using CP gives me lots of "Input/output error". I'm getting "device full" when there is 7TB free. eg. -
Code: Select all
cp: error reading '/mnt/Volume_1/MEDIA/TV/4400/The 4400 Season 1 Complete/The 4400 S01E03 - Becoming.avi': Input/output errorDo I struggle on or do I just return it?
