Thank you for the suggestion and I do appreciate the help. I did try to connect using Putty but it says "Network error. Connection refused"
I have gone to a desktop PC which is on our network and I have been able to map the shared drives which are on the server - so it is recognising the user name and password when doing that. Strange. I will try and press the off button on the front of the NAS and hopefully it resets and allows me to log back in.
If I have to reinstall TOS, I do have complete back ups of all of my data so that is not a concern to me. It's more the frustration and time.
When I do manage to get back into TOS then I will set up a second username with admin rights so that should this occur again in the future, I will ((hopefully) have a way to get back in. I can see from reading the forum that others have had this issue as well.
