The implication here is TerraMaster have messed this up so badly that anyone with a system that was originally running on version 4 (or earlier) will either have to restart their systems from scratch or risk their system failing due to the partition running out of space down the line.
As I see it, "backup your data and redo all the partitions" is when I need to think very hard about whether I trust TerraMaster devices with my data going forwards.
TerraMaster need to come up with a better resolution to this issue and quickly.
TOS 4 and earlier versions were born 12 years ago. At that time, 2GB was good enough to cope with various NAS applications. Now 2GB is not enough to support the latest system, you need more space. Or you keep running the previous version and not updating.
Since all your hard disk space has been completely occupied by various partitions, each partition has data, and to create a new partition or extend of of them, the original partitions must be deleted or re-organized. Before doing these operations, you have to back up the data. I understand that you want to update with bigger partition but do not want to delete partitions, unfortunately, we can't give you a magic trick to make this happen.
