[Help] Failed to up my Hdd3 4TB to 16TB in traid mode

Post by thierrys73 »

Hello, I tried to replace a hard drive in my array of 5 drives (HDD1 to HDD5) and one hard drive (HDD6) in single mode.
I have a T6-423 v6.0.794

HDD1 6TB
HDD2 8TB
HDD3 4TB
HDD4 8TB
HDD5 6TB

I try to change my hdd3 4TB by 16TB without succes
After the exchange, I could see my 16 TB hard drive was available. I tried to start the repair.
My storage pool was badly degraded; I tried to do raid online capacity expansion.
The repair never started, even after several attempts.
Could you please tell me what I might have done wrong?

Are you following the steps below to perform the operation?

1.Press the power button briefly to turn off the TNAS. Wait until the power indicator goes out, remove the disk to be replaced, and insert a larger-capacity disk.
2.Press the power button briefly to turn on the TNAS. You will hear continuous beep-beep sounds, and the message center will report an array degradation message. Go to the right side of the TOS desktop to disable the buzzer.
3.Navigate to TOS Control Panel > Storage Manager > Storage Pool (displayed as degraded at this point) > Edit > Select Array Expansion > Select the newly added disk > Confirm Settings.
4.Go to TOS Control Panel > Storage Management > Volume > Edit, and adjust the volume capacity as needed.

If you follow the above steps and there is no response when clicking on the page, please generate and download the log report in TOS > Technical Support > Issue Report, then send it to our technical support email ([email protected]). We will analyze it.

Hello

I followed the procedure step by step I got the message configuration successful but disk 3 Does not appear in hard drive list

Do I have to wait a long time before disc 3 appears in the list ?

Thanks for your help

Regarding what you said, 'disk 3 Does not appear in hard drive list', are you referring to the member list of Storage Pool1, or the list under Control Panel - Disk - Disk?
Based on the currently available information, it is not sufficient to provide a highly probable guess. Please provide the system report mentioned by CursaYang so that we can conduct an investigation.

hello
In fact, after completing the procedure and receiving the "configuration complete" message, disk HDD 3 does not appear in the list of my pool 1, which contains 5 disks.
Disk 3 no longer appears in my pool 1 but is still present as a disk in the hard drive section
see the screenshots

Hello

Maybe you need to know that. My 16tb HDD3 disk is actually my old HDD6 disk that I moved from place.
Before replacement
HDD1 6TB
HDD2 8TB
HDD3 4TB
HDD4 8TB
HDD5 6TB
HDD6 16TB

After
HDD1 6TB
HDD2 8TB
HDD3 16TB (old hdd6)
HDD4 8TB
HDD5 6TB
HDD6 28TB (new)

Thanks for help
