I don't see any reference to storing a snapshot on a remote TNAS?
My one NAS still running latest TOS 6 and the other two latest TOS 7 beta.
Neither version (of the app) that I can see has this option. Am I doing something wrong?
Is there a user guide somewhere? For now, even the TOS 6 version of the App.

Re: [Help] User Guide
Hello,Welcome to contact TerraMaster.
You can refer to our help documentation at https://toshelp.terra-master.com/docs/T ... p/snapshot for detailed feature descriptions. Currently, we only support creating snapshots for the local TNAS, but you can create duplicate tasks to replicate the captured snapshot folders or iSCSI LUNs to other destinations (local TNAS or remote TNAS).

Re: [Help] User Guide
Another question regarding the Snapshot app. It seems to me the Snapshot function and duplicate function are entirely different. I mean I get the Snapshot function, captures the shared folder to a file or whatever. But the duplicate function, it seems to me it just makes a copy of shared folder but lets you copy it to a remote NAS. It doesn't make a snapshot of the source filesystem then writes that snapshot file to the remote NAS, it just replicates the source folder to a folder on the remote NAS? I read the documentation of Snapshot I few times.
Bottom line I would like to capture (on a schedule) some shared folders on two different NAS and store them on the third NAS I have. Honestly speed isn't a concern, data integrity and reliably is.

Re: [Help] User Guide [SOLVED]
Hello, the current replication function is indeed for copying shared folders, but each replication task creates a snapshot record for both the source and destination folders. If your goal is to consolidate snapshots from two different TNAS devices onto a third NAS, this cannot be achieved directly through the Snapshot application for now. However, you can use the restore function on the third NAS and select snapshots from the remote TNAS devices.
If you wish to have the shared folders on the third TNAS, you can create replication tasks from both source TNAS devices to copy the shared folders to the third NAS. Alternatively, on the third TNAS, you can use the restore function to select snapshots from the remote TNAS and restore them onto that device.
Re: [Help] User Guide
I will reread this later, two of my NAS are RAID rebuilding. I will try a few different methods.
Part of it will be coming up a scenario (hope to never need) of what to do if I do lose a shared folder, how to recover from it given the different options above.
Thanks

47 years in IT, backups are useless if you can't use them to recover from the issue.

Re: [Help] User Guide
Use the snapshot recovery feature on the third TNAS to select a snapshot from a remote TNAS and restore it to that device.
