[Help] Plex can't see my media SOLVED

Post by colsanders83 »

Hi All,

I've had Plex up and running without issues for awhile now. Today I tried logging in and get a message about expired credentials and now Plex can't see the media server at all. I've tried rebooting, manually adding a claim ID, uninstalling, and completely blowing out Plex (including deleting the Plex Media Server directory) and reinstalling, but still can't see the media server. I'm still stuck with a message saying I need to get Plex Media Server.

I can access the server and files multiple different ways on multiple devices, just not through Plex. I saw some posts about permissions, but they all reference either a plex user (which doesn't seem to exist, yet when I try to create one I get an already exists error) or application users which doesn't seem to be a thing on my NAS. I do have user groups and the media group does have read/write permissions to the folders and the Plex share.

Terramaster: F2-423
TOS Version: 5.1.67
Plex version: 1.42.2.10156

UPDATE:
I found the following link in another post about not being able to claim a server.

Most of it is pretty easy to follow. The TerraMaster specific stuff is:
1.) You will need to SSH into the NAS. I used Putty from a Windows desktop.
2.) "Plex advanced settings" is located at /Volume1/Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Preferences.xml
3.) curl was not available, but ter_curl was and worked fine.

I experienced the same problem. First, I needed to unclaim the server from the old account I had been using. Then, I logged in with my new account and claimed my TNAS there. Next, I adjusted the folder permissions by selecting the application user from the drop down box on the right had side of the screen. I noticed that the Plex user didn't have any permissions, so I made the necessary corrections.
