[Help] D5-300C, can I switch from RAID1 to single without losing data

Post by fasterdeletion37235 »

I have Raid1 on bays 1 and 2, and have considered switching to single. I've looked around on the forum a little, I take it that if I did this, both drives would be newly formatted, and I would lose the data stored on the drives? There is nothing wrong with the current setup, but I would like more storage space. This seems like the easiest way to do it--but I believe I'll lose the data currently on the drives.
In sum, if I switch from Raid 1 to Single, I would lose data on bays 1 and 2, and they would present, to the computer, as new, empty drives.
Or, would they both present as separate drives, but with the same data on them without any data loss?
Thanks! I've used the D5-300C for years and love it.

Hello! Please be advised that if you switch the HDD1/2 of your D5-300C product from RAID 1 array mode to Single mode, the hard drives will be formatted, and all data stored on them will be completely erased. If you decide to proceed with changing the array type, we highly recommend backing up your data in advance to prevent any data loss.
