Hi everyone,
I am turning to the official Terramaster forum to see if you can help me with a problem I am having with my DAS model D4-300.
My DAS is connected to a mini PC that has Proxmox installed. I have some virtual machines running on my Proxmox server.
I currently have three Western Digital WD80EFBX 8TB drives and one Samsung HD501LJ 500GB drive.
The problem I am having is with the S.M.A.R.T. data from the disks, as it only shows me S.M.A.R.T. data from the disks in bays 1, 2, and 4. The disk in bay 3 never shows S.M.A.R.T. data.
To rule out possible problems with the drive, I have tried other drives and the same thing happens. They always show S.M.A.R.T. data when they are in any bay, but when they are in bay 3, they show nothing. It only recognizes the model, serial number, and little else.
Could someone please help me? Could it be a DAS firmware problem? If so, how could I update the firmware to see if it solves my problem?
I hope you can help me.
Thank you very much in advance.
Best regards.

Re: [Help] D4-300 S.M.A.R.T. Issue in bay 3
Hello! I would like to confirm when you purchased your D4-320 product.
Please connect the D4-320 product to another computer (Windows/Mac), and then use official tools (such as CrystalDiskInfo) or the system's built-in disk management tool to check the S.M.A.R.T. information of the third drive slot to confirm whether the relevant data can be read successfully.
Additionally, there is a possibility that the third drive slot or the connection between the motherboard and the backplane may be contaminated, which could lead to connection issues. It is recommended that you open the product casing and carefully clean any dirt or dust inside.

Re: [Help] D4-300 S.M.A.R.T. Issue in bay 3
Hello,
My DAS is a D4-300, not a D4-320. I bought it used a few months ago in very good condition and it works perfectly, except the S.M.A.R.T. data for any drive I put in bay 3 isn't displayed.
So, in this case, is it recommended to remove all the drives, disconnect it, and clean it inside? For example, with compressed air?
I'll try connecting it to Windows and running CrystalDiskInfo to see if the S.M.A.R.T. data for bay 3 is displayed. If so,
Regarding the firmware, is there an update for the D4-300 model?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.

Hello, second-hand devices may have some hidden issues. You can remove the hard drive and clean the slot according to the previous suggestions. There is no available firmware update for the D4-300.

Hi,
Okay. I'll try cleaning that specific bay to see if that solves the problem. When I do, I'll post the results here. Thanks for the help. Best regards.
