I'm trying to create a Duple volume backup from a new F4-424 Max to an older Netgear RN214 via Rsync. I just configured a new homelab setup for my small business and part of the configuration is a new Firewalla Gold Plus firewall.
When creating a backup task, the green "connected successfully" pops up after I enter the address, port, etc. However, the destination pulldown locations are not the RN214. At least it doesn't appear so. There's two locations in the pulldown and the names of the folders are not exactly the names of the folders on either NAS, although very similar.
If I pick one and go through the scheduling and confirm the backup, I get the following error: Creation Failed! It is recommended to change the file name or reconnect and retry the creation.
I verified the Rsync is enabled on the RN214. I can ping the RN214 from the TNAS and it sees it. I had the RN214 on a 1GB switch connected to a 10GB switch initially. I moved the RN214 to the same switch as the TNAS with no change. I rebooted all the machines multiple times throughout with no change.
I'm doing more research on the Firewalla to see if maybe it's preventing a connection. But I'm way outside my comfort zone with that and think I would do more harm than good if I started messing with it.
I feel I'm one check box off from it working, or I'm completely off base.
[Help] Duple from TNAS to NetGear RN214 via Rsync and Firewalla not connecting
Re: [Help] Duple from TNAS to NetGear RN214 via Rsync and Firewalla not connecting
I created a new 'Test" folder on the RN214, enabled Rsync and I can see that folder in the pulldown when creating the backup task utilizing Duple on the TNAS. So this confirms the TNAS can see the RN214 and the Firewalla is not interfering.
But, I still get the same error message: Creation Failed! It is recommended to change the file name or reconnect and retry the creation.

Re: [Help] Duple from TNAS to NetGear RN214 via Rsync and Firewalla not connecting
I'll do that, thanks. I was also able to configure a backup through the Control Panel --> Rsync where it saw the folders correctly on the TN214 and completed the configuration. However, it did run the backup but there were no files in the destination folder. I tried a full backup and incremental backup with the same results of no files being copied.
Re: [Help] Duple from TNAS to NetGear RN214 via Rsync and Firewalla not connecting
It has been verified that similar related operations are feasible.
Regarding the difficulties you encountered, there may be an error somewhere.
You can first go to TOS-Backup-Rsync Backup to test whether you can successfully connect and set up the Rsync backup.

Re: [Help] Duple from TNAS to NetGear RN214 via Rsync and Firewalla not connecting
What you suggested is shown in my previous post. I went through TOS-Backup-Rsync and was able to connect. I then ran the backup and it said it was successful. However, it did not copy or backup any files. There is no error in the logs.
