[Help] D2-310 Spin down/idle control

I run my D2 which is plugged into my MAC M4Mini as back up storage for my NAS.

Latest level of Mac OS is not very good at spinning down the disks when idle. I don’t believe the D2 has anyway of controlling this such as wake on LAN or similar so has anyone any recommendations or even if there is any way to control this please ?

Also, is there any software I need to download to update or run the D2 ?

Thanks but my problem is that the drives spin up seemingly random, for no reason. I have read that there is an issue with Mac OS that sends a wake up to external drives every now and then regardless of a need to access the drives

I can’t find any verification of that however. But it seems I just need to wait until Apple fix it

Okay, so the issue occurred after updating macOS?
I almost forgot to address your other concern: D2-210 does not require software to operate.

Thanks for getting back so quick

Not sure if it’s happened since the last update. Only installed the D2-310 a week ago. Easiest install ever. Great box and just works as JBOD as two external drives with no hassle. So not surprised no additional software is needed

The disks spinning up for no reason looks like the OS checking drives, as I say, without any requirement from my backup program. I’m sure if I timed them they would be in a pattern. It’s annoying but not the end of the world. Everything is set correctly in utilities/energy in the Mac OS settings. I think it really is a case of waiting for Apple to sort it out
