TOS 6.0.673 (X86) is Released for Update

Post by RyanYang »

Target Users:
Users currently running TOS 6.0.500 or later versions.
Note: If your TOS version does not meet the requirements, please first check the update conditions for TOS 6.0.530.

Here, we sincerely thank user jpeckinp、rfbjr、sianderson、tanktarta、obvious、Gremlin、kai、nale88、magnus4ever、StephenNaylor, Lexand others, for their sharing and feedback. It is your support that has enabled us to quickly identify and resolve some issues.

Update Notes
Bugs fixed:
1. Fixed the issue that WebDAV shared folders could not be mounted via IPv6 addresses after system reboot.
2. Fixed the issue that Debug log packages could not be downloaded when they were too large.
3. Fixed the issue that an error message might appear when opening the terminal in TOS desktop.
4. Fixed the issue that the power on/off schedule might not work under certain conditions.
5. Fixed the issue that hardware information on the Overview page was not aligned properly in some language environments.
6. Fixed the issue that cloud drives might fail to mount properly under certain conditions.
7. Fixed the issue that storage pools could not be created properly on hard disks that had previously installed other operating systems.
8. Fixed some issues that occurred when regular users used Dual Backup and Surveillance.
9. Fixed some issues related to shared folders.
10. Fixed some issues related to network interfaces.
11. Fixed some issues related to file manager.
12. Fixed some issues related to LDAP domains.
13. Fixed some issues related to virtual disks.
14. Fixed some issues related to security.

What's new:
1. Added cgroup control policies to achieve reasonable allocation of CPU and memory resources.
2. Added the pprof tool in Debug mode.
3. Added support for the new generation of TNAS models.

Important Information:
1.Updating the system theoretically will not affect the data on your hard drives, but for safety, please make sure to back up your data in advance.
2.Before updating, ensure that your primary volume (usually volume1) has at least 3GB of available space. Insufficient storage space may cause the update to fail.
3.After the update, the IP address of your TNAS may change. Please use the TNAS PC desktop client to search for and reconnect to the device.

Update Procedure:
1.Go to TOS > Control Panel > General Settings > System > Update, and click "Check for updates."
2.Follow the prompts to update the system.
3.After the system update is complete, you may need to refresh your browser.
4.The TNAS IP address may change after the update. If you cannot connect to your TNAS using the previous IP address, use the TNAS PC client to search for the new IP address.

Updated from 6.0.6.50.

It seems to work fine, but then so did 6.0.6.50.

Edit - the web GUI does seem to load its pages a lot quicker.

Something odd: (All devices running Tos6-650)
I have updated 2 devices (both fn-221 based). Neither are set to 'auto-download'.
Click on "Download and Update"
Observe the "unzipping" countdown clock.
Reaches zero and ....... nothing.
Refresh browser page > Control Panel closes
Re-open control panel > System
Now I see "check for updates". Click on that and the process follows through with "unzip" and re-boot.

My 3rd device (F2-424) is set to 'auto-download updates' but it does not seem to actually perform the download until prompted.

None of these devices have "system event" notifications enabled (due to constant interruptions from indexing processes) so push notifications of updates are not received (I presume that is the reason, anyway). Maybe Update notifications should be another process that is separate from routine 'System event' notices. Not everyone uses this forum and, as has been seen in the past, admins might be blissfully unaware of available updates.

For systems that use UPS support pointed to a TNAS UPS server:
UPS support does not automatically re-enable after update.
(Observed on 2 devices)
{The ups server itself, does re-enable automatically}

Hello,

Thanks for your work and this update. I still have an issue with notifications since upgrading to TOS 6 and I didn't find a post about it.
I can't edit notification settings and when I want to send a test email, I'm logged out and I don't receive the mail.
Is there a fix for that? Or is it a known issue that will be fixed in a future update?

Thanks.
