[Help] D5/D8 Hybrid queries (MacOs)

Post by Chazman »

Hi,

I was about to buy a D5 Hybrid but could not find anything anywhere about UASP and TRIM support for SSD's and nvme drives. Can anyone, or TerraMaster confirm these are supported. I assume they should be but can't see it noted anywhere in specs.

A couple of further queries -

1. after looking at all the forum entries it seems there is an issue with NVME drive serial numbers on a MAC and firmware needs flashing? But only through a windows PC?? If anyone could summarise for me as I am not that technical and don't have access to a Windows PC; so am a bit concerned that the nvme's may not be recognised properly on a Mac?

2. Using Mac software raid assistant - I was considering using the MacOs (Sequoia 15.3.1) to create a raid of 2 of the nvme's but again it seems there may be some issues with this? Ditto using the hardware raid for a Time Machine backup.

Is it the case that the D5 Hybrid (and D8) are not really fully Mac compatible??

Thanks for your patience.

From what I know, the D5 Hybrid supports UASP and TRIM for SSDs and NVMe drives.
You’ll need to flash the firmware on a Windows to make sure your two NVMe drives have different serial numbers.
If you’re on a Mac, you can set up a virtual Windows environment using software like Parallels: https://www.parallels.com.
