After updating from TOS5 to TOS6, I have to say that nothing really works.
In ssh I can't
- upgrade the system as I'm not root
- add my user to the sudo-group with the usermod tool
- install tools like nano
What is a linux based system good for if I can hardly do anything with it? how can I fix this?
Nothing but problems with TOS6
Re: Nothing but problems with TOS6
Hello!
Thank you for your feedback!
In TerraMaster TOS 6, the first time a user is setup, he/she has superuser privileges by default, which is equivalent to root user. Therefore, you don't need to use the sudo command to switch to root, but you can directly perform operations that require administrator privileges. For example, you can use the apt command to install the required packages without additional privilege elevation.
The TOS 6 system is fully compatible with Ubuntu, so you can use various Linux tools and commands just like in Ubuntu.
If you encounter any problems during use, please contact the TerraMaster Technical Support team for further assistance.
Re: Nothing but problems with TOS6
Yes I tried to install nano with apt install but I got an error message...
Re: Nothing but problems with TOS6
Ok, strangly enough I could now install nano.
Still having troubles copying files via scp or sftp. I have an ssh tunnel from outside to the terramaster which works fine but copying doesn't work.

Re: Nothing but problems with TOS6
Today I tried to install the VPN connections again. I use windscribe and download the .ovpn and copied the credidentials. But in TOS6 this also DOESN'T WORK (what a surprise). But I did it the same way as in TOS5 and there everything worked.
Is there anyone who can support me? I mean it's not fair. I bought this thing and now after the upgrade (which I did like advised) nothing works
