TOS 6.0.610: Wonky SMB connection

Post by Judas68fr »

Hi all,
I recently updated all of the computers on my network to Macs. I've set up the my NAS, a F2-424, with SMB service. However, I've been having wonky performance, with frequent disconnects, where I suddenly lose access to the files on the server. I can get them back if I unplug the ethernet cable from my router and plug it back in.
I feel like I may have some issues with the SMB configuration. I've been playing around for the last half hour or so, it looks more stable, but I wanted confirmation that I got everything right. Here are my File Sharing settings at the moment:

I'd appreciate any suggestions and ways to improve this.

Cheers!

I've been experiencing similar disconnections.

I have a zidoo media player connecting via two smb connections to two hard drives on my F2-212. The connection especially (but not exclusively) to the second drive is frequently lost. I've changed the NAS settings so that it restarts every night, thereby forcing a reconnection, but this doesn't even work consistently as a temporary work-around.

Sometimes the NAS is completely unresponsive even when connecting to it via AFP from my Macs, and the only solution is to power it off. It's so frustrating that I may just switch to QNAP.

Are there similar issues with other connection methods besides the Zidoo media player you mentioned? Given that you mentioned the second connection is lost while the first one is not, I suggest you pay attention to the CPU and RAM usage of your system.
