I have an F4-210 with four 4TB WD RED drives. Been using it for years and all was well. According to the one and only sacrificial Windows machine (everyone uses Linux today you should have software for Linux)
Worked great for years. Lately it has developed an annoying chirp that is random and sounds much like a cheek-squeaker fart. I've been over 40 years in IT starting out in computer operations in the 1980s. This doesn't sound like a disk issue. All of the diagnostics from your PC software say the drives are fine.

Is that the sound of a buzzer? You can try clicking to turn off the buzzer in the top right corner of the desktop.

But really, I suspect the vast majority use MAC or Windows. If you have a linux desktop, you have a browser like everyone else. There is also a version of the "TNAS PC" for linux ubuntu, android and ios. Not sure what you are asking for.

But really, I suspect the vast majority use MAC or Windows. If you have a linux desktop, you have a browser like everyone else. There is also a version of the "TNAS PC" for linux ubuntu, android and ios. Not sure what you are asking for.
I'm asking about the annoying intermittent chirp. It is not a buzzer. It is coming directly from the device and sounds much like a short cheek squeaker fart, not like something a piezo speaker would generate. All the diagnostics say everything is fine yet it never used to make this noise. Now it is making it and getting more frequent.

I would think a fan would make far more noise more often (long duration). This is getting to be more frequent but no increase in duration.
Do these units have a problem with dust build-up? Maybe I will take it out to the shed and turn an air compressor loose on it?
Now I have to fight the battle of getting it on the correct network again. I forget how I fixed this last time. Ever since I moved to real Internet (100up/down) (hey, don't laugh, I had 25Mbps down and 3 up before because for over a decade that was the best there was out here!) this thing tries to join their 10.0 domain instead of 192.168.1.x.
I don't see anything obvious for Date of Manufacture. Was hoping to get another few years out of this, but if it is over 5 years old probably approaching EOL.
Maybe it is time to go back to just using a PC as a file server like I used to do with Netware and OS/2? I can at least replace the parts in one of those with cheap commodity items.
