How to create a Hyper Cache?

Post by TMLeeh »

Applicable Versions: TOS 5 / TOS 6

Applicable Models: All TNAS Models

Feature Description:
Hyper Cache, developed by TerraMaster, is an SSD caching acceleration solution that provides various caching modes to meet diverse needs. It also supports building SSD disk arrays, achieving both speed and safety. With Hyper Cache, your storage performance will be significantly enhanced, delivering an unprecedented high-efficiency and stable hybrid storage experience.

Creation Steps:
1. Navigate to Control Panel > Storage Manager > Hyper Cache, and click Create Now.
2. Select a target volume from the available volume list to use for cache acceleration.
3. Choose the disk and array type for creating the cache.
4. Select the caching mode and click Confirm.

Troubleshooting: Hyper Cache Creation Button Unavailable?
If you find that the Hyper Cache page is grayed out and the create button is unavailable, follow these steps to troubleshoot:

Step 1: Confirm SSD Availability
Ensure that your device has installed a SATA SSD or NVMe SSD. Go to Control Panel > Storage Manager > Disk > Disk page and check if the SSD is listed.

Step 2: Check SSD Usage
1. Not Part of a Storage Pool
Go to Control Panel > Storage Manager > Storage Pool, expand the details of each storage pool, and check the disk information section. Ensure that the SSD you want to use as a cache is not part of any storage pool. If the SSD is already part of a storage pool, you will need to delete the associated storage pool before the SSD can be used to create a Hyper Cache.

2. Not a System Disk (TOS 6 Only)
Ensure that the SSD is not designated as a system disk. System disks are labeled with the "System Disk" tag (blue) next to their names.
