(I have moved this topic to this place because I have read some closed messages here related with my problem)
Hi all,
First of all thanks for your time to read my problem. Since several weeks ago, my NAS F4-210 after some hours is reset although you are not using it. After some beeps and blinking leds, it switched off. And after some hours, it is switched on again automatically and it is working fine during some hours, and the problem is repeated.
I have shared a video with Terramaster support where you can see the issue. They have requested me to execute a Linux command for getting logs (no new logs are written when the problem occurs) so I need help becuase I have a lot of content of the HDDs and finally the only solution that Terramaster support has offered me is a discount of 30% of new device. Really?
I can't believe that after 4 years, the device is broken and they have told me that they don't repair it. I would like to know which the problem is. I suppose that it could be a hw problem but nobody of Terramaster confirms me.
I have also configured the device without HDDs and the problem is reproduced, so could it me a memory problem? a problem with the motherboard?
I will appreciate any idea or test that I can follow to see if finally I can recover my content.
Thanks a lot in advance.
With kind regards.

Re: NAS F4-210 continuosly reset and no help from support
Our after-sales service have already confirmed the hardware malfunction with your device. Since your device is out of warranty, whether it's a motherboard issue or another hardware fault, it's not something you can repair on your own. Moreover, without proper diagnostics, how can we pinpoint the exact component that's failed? Despite this, they have still offered you a solution, providing a discounted rate for the purchase of new equipment. You have taken to posting here again, but I am at a loss as to what answer you are seeking.

Re: NAS F4-210 continuosly reset and no help from support
If the OP has no backup it seems like he needs to aquire another unit that will match or exceed the problem unit and/or take advantage of the (fairly generous) @TM offer. Otherwise it's going to be expensive to try commercial data recovery. Seems there are available solutions on ebay as people are starting to replace 'older tech'. I get notices quite often from UK ebay about such items.

Re: NAS F4-210 continuosly reset and no help from support
First of all, thanks for your comments.
I am going to answer to @TMroy because I suppose you work in aftersales TM. Anyway I cannot understand why a product that I have purchased in August 2020, after 4 yeras, it is faulty.
Our after-sales service have already confirmed the hardware malfunction with your device.
[JUJOSAPE] How can you confirm that it is a hardware malfunction? It is true that your technical people has tried to connect but you have not confirme me. Futhermore, in your message you tell me that you don't know if it is a problem of the motherboar or another hardware fault.
Since your device is out of warranty, whether it's a motherboard issue or another hardware fault, it's not something you can repair on your own.
[JUJOSAPE] I agree you that I cannot repair by myself, but you don't give any solution (as I have put in my previous post) I have asked you if you have a aftersales repair and you have told me, that you don't have it.
Moreover, without proper diagnostics, how can we pinpoint the exact component that's failed?
[JUJOSAPE] That's why I have recorded a video that I have provided you several times and I have not received any answer.
Despite this, they have still offered you a solution, providing a discounted rate for the purchase of new equipment.
[JUJOSAPE] Yes, it is true. But how can you guarantee me that this device is not going have the same fault? Could you confirm me? Problably no ...
You have taken to posting here again, but I am at a loss as to what answer you are seeking.
[JUJOSAPE] I am seeking an answer if anybody has suffered my same problem and if somebody can suggest me a place where I can try to repair it.
Thanks again for your answer.

Re: NAS F4-210 continuosly reset and no help from support
There must be computer repair shops (or individuals) close enough to where you live. The problem (for you) is how much is it worth to seek a repair, even if it possible, and how much is it worth NOT to get a repair if it isn't possible. It's out of warranty - s**t happens. Right now I have a F2-221 sitting beside me in pieces while I wait to see if something turns up on ebay I can use for repair. But then, I'm not reliant on it to save my data.

Re: NAS F4-210 continuosly reset and no help from support
Thanks a lot @Gremlin for your comprehension and messages. I had thought to send my TNAS to a repair shop but if I think that it is difficult if they are not official aftersales shop.
I shared my problem here if there was somebody with same problem and I thought that with the video that I recorded with leds and sound, Terramaster support could averiguate which the problem was.
About my backup data, finally I could extract it and copy to another device, so my problem is not to recover my data. My anger is that I don't understand how a product (which is selling it now) after 4 years has this problem and there is no possibility to repair it.
Regards.

Re: NAS F4-210 continuosly reset and no help from support
Hi again,
I have news about my "faulty" device. I have opened it and I have noticed that there is connected a USB device to the mainboard. Find below a photo of this USB device.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PWnXFi ... sp=sharing
I have disconnected it from my NAS and my NAS is on (without any reset) during 4 days (before if I switched on it, the problem was reproduced and after maximum of 5 minutes, my NAS was switched off automatically - as you can see in the video that I have shared in my first post).
So frankly speaking I don't understand anything and I don't know exactly which is the purpose of this USB device. Terramaster support told me that it is necessary for webpage, but for which webpage?
Currently I have my NAS without HDDs (as when the problem was reproduced) and it is "working" without resets. I do each certain time pings to it and they are success and I also use TNAS PC for detecting it, and it is detected.
So could it be my problem with this USB device or with USB input of the mainboard of the NAS?
This weekend I am going to connect my HDDs again and I will check if I can access without any problem to the content.
Regards.

Re: NAS F4-210 continuosly reset and no help from support
The built-in USB drive of the F4-210 only functions when the NAS boots into the TOS initialization boot system in a diskless state. It primarily loads the page files and works with the F4-210 kernel to display the TOS initialization boot page.
If you believe there is an issue wth the built-in USB drive, you can refer to this page for resetting the page files on the built-in USB drive.
