Which Order To Set Up Volumes / Drives

Post by neiloakley »

F4-223 on TOD 5.1
2 x 4TB Ironwolf HDD for Storage
1 x 512gb NvME for hyper-caching
1 x 1024gb NvME for TOS install and application install

My question is how should I sequence the setup?

I tried installing HDD first, but then I couldn't move TOS onto the NvME
I then tried installing 1024gb NvME first, but now my user HOME folder is on Volume1 on the NvME

I want TOS and applications to be installed on 1024gb NvME, and my user home folder on HDDs (TRAID).

What order do i need to install drives and how should I ensure TOS goes on NvME but user home goes on HDD?

User Home folders are assigned automatically for each user login but you can chosse to disable them Control Panel > Users > advanced - then disable.
Once Tos is installed you can create a second Pool and volume in your storage area and create a shared folder per user of your choice.
Install 1024 GB nvme and install TOS. Choose that as the only drive for install
Install 2 x 4TB HDD and storage pool etc.
Install nvme for hypercache & create cache.
There has been discussion of moving home folders, but I've not found any instructions so far.
