Applicable Versions:
All TNAS versions

Applicable Models:
All TNAS models

Fault Symptoms:
When using certain versions of the TOS system, the system may prompt that the certificates for tnas.link or terra-master.com have expired.

Solution:
1.terra-master.com certificate expired
To address the issue of the expired terra-master.com certificate, go to TOS > Control Panel > Security > Certificates, select the terra-master.com certificate, and click the "Update" button. If the update fails, please check your network connection to ensure that your TNAS device has proper access to the internet.

2.tnas.link certificate expired
(1)If your system version is TOS 6, simply restart your TNAS while the device is connected to the network, and the system will automatically update the certificate.
(2)If your system version is TOS 4 (excluding models F2-210 and F4-210) or TOS 5, you can update the certificate by restarting the TNAS.online service, provided that the network connection is normal. If the TNAS.online restart is unsuccessful, restarting the entire TNAS device will also complete the certificate update process.

3.Method for updating tnas.link certificate for F2-210 and F4-210 models
Step 1: Download the file required for updating the tnas.link certificate. Download link:
https://download3.terra-master.com/Docu ... dateCrt.sh

Step 2: Upload the downloaded certificate to the public directory.

Step 3: After enabling the SSH service, log into the terminal and switch to administrator mode.Link to the method for terminal login:viewtopic.php?t=2350. The command to switch identities is:

Code: Select all

Step 4: Execute the command to update the certificate. The command to update the certificate is:

Code: Select all

/mnt/md0/public/updateCrt.sh
Image

Step 5: Check the certificate's validity period and verify that the certificate is functioning properly.
(1)Go to TOS > Control Panel > Security > Certificates to check the validity period of tnas.link.
(2)Restart tnas.online, and it should be successfully enabled.

I'm new to Terramaster and have TOS 6.0.673. Is there a step-by-step process to enable HTTPS for my local access?

I'm not sure if I can just do openssl to generate PEM and CERT files, then upload those on the config page. Or do i have to do something publically with LetsEncrypt ?

Due to TNAS’s dynamic IP address, SSL certification cannot be applied. Accessing TNAS via HTTPS using its IP address may trigger a security warning, but this does not compromise communication security.

Hi everyone,

I'm also experiencing the same issue on TOS 6.0.783 using TERRAMASTER F6-424. The symptoms are identical to what others have described in this thread. The SSL certificate HTTPS "tnas.link" is expired.

I've tried rebooting and checking the logs, but nothing obvious stands out. The automatically update is not done. If anyone has found a workaround or if TerraMaster support has provided an update, I’d really appreciate any insights.
Is it possible to use the shell file provided for F2-210 and F4-210 models ?
Example :
autoupdate_url="https://app.terra-master.com/autoupdate ... S6_6.0.783"

Thanks in advance!

Hello, the shell scripts for TOS 4 are not compatible with TOS 6.
In TOS 6, we only retain terra-master.com. Where did you see that the tnas.link certificate has expired?
Please first check if the network connection is normal, then restart TNAS.online and check for updates again.

Thank you for your answer.

Using web browser (Edge or Chrome or Firefox) I have the following message : Your connection is not private Malicious users might be trying to steal your information from mynas.tnas.link (for example, passwords, messages, or credit card details). net::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID This server could not prove that it is mynas.tnas.link. Its security certificate expired 3 days ago. This may be due to a misconfiguration or a malicious user intercepting your connection. Your computer’s clock is currently set to Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Does that seem correct? If not, adjust your system clock and then refresh this page.
Proceed to mynas.tnas.link (unsafe)

The network connection is normal. using SSH I succeed to ping terramaster web site or Google, I reactivate TNAS.online again and reboot.
The SSL certificate is not renewed.
Using SSH I check the date using date command. This is ok and the NTP connection is ok. The same for the clients devices.

Do you want I check a specific log file ?

I get the email saying:

The *.tnas.link certificate has expired! Please update the certificate

each time I boot up the drive (which itself takes 10 minutes). But the functionality is all good. Must I update the certificate? What if I just ignore the message?

Hello, we have noticed that the certificate for the tnas.link domain has recently expired. Our team is currently processing the renewal. This will not affect your normal access to the device or the use of its core functions. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thank you. But what is the certificate? What does it do? Why do I need to update it? What happens if I just DON’T?

In an ideal world I would just continue using the drive without having to update anything :)
