DAS corrupts disks
DAS corrupts disks
One thing not publicised in relation to the D4-320 is that, once installed in the DAS, the disk cannot be read in any other enclosure unless I am missing something. I have just put a disk out of the Terramaster into another enclosure and find it is unreadable with the dreaded GPT protected partition. Strangely the disk size shows as 16tb but is of course unreadable and all data will be lost if reinitialised!!! This means that once in the D$-320 it cannot be used anywhere else. If I am right this completely negates the value of this kit for me. Am I right??? If so it will be going back.
Re: DAS corrupts disks
Could you please confirm if your D4-320 has an array configuration? If it does not have an array configuration, you can move the disks of the D4-320 to another Windows computer and continue using it.

Re: DAS corrupts disks
this is perfectly normal.
take any disk from any make of RAID and it will only be readable when its in the array.

Re: DAS corrupts disks
Thanks for the input but this is a DAS so it is simple disks and is not an array. I appreciate in a raid set up this would be the case. I understand my problem may be endemic to a DAS but I cannot avoid finding that once the disk has been written to in the DAS, once in a separate enclosure it introduces a GPT protected partition, drops the drive letter and is unreadable.
