I’m still relatively new to the NAS world and I have a very basic grasp of RAID but I just wanted to check a few things before going ahead with an upgrade.
I’ve been running a F2-210 for a few months now with two 4TB drives in RAID 1. As I have nearly filled that up I now want to move to a four bay enclosure, add two more drives and move to RAID 5 or 6.
I was just wondering, if I buy an F4 would I just be able to put my existing drives into it and have everything instantly set up exactly the same as it was on the F2 or would I have to set everything up from the start again?
Secondly, is moving from RAID 1 to RAID 5/6 as simple as just plugging in the new drives and changing the setting or will I need to back-up externally and start all four disks from scratch?
I just want to make sure I have the right equipment and time available before I switch over.
Thanks!
Looking to upgrade from F2-210 to F4-210, a few questions.

Hi, yes, your hard drives in F2-210 could be used and recognized directly in F4-210. You don't have to set it up from scratch.
And it's ok to upgrade from RAID1 to RAID5 without losing data, you can add one hard drive, and go to TOS Control panel - storage manager - storage pool, check the current storage pool and click edit and choose "Upgrade RAID" from the list.
