I bought a new SABRENT 1TB Rocket NVMe 4.0 Gen4, and configured it as Hyper Cache in my F2-423. However, during extended write operations, the NAS throws alarms that it is overheating. Has anyone had issues with this? I’m guessing because it’s “on the list”, it wouldn’t be a compatibility issue? I think my next step will be to throw the drive in an enclosure and test extended write sessions on it, before deciding if it’s a bad drive. Just curious if anyone has seen this. I’ve never had an NVMe drive overheat before.

-Thanks

Please check whether the fan of the device is running normally? Check the temperature of the hard disk and device in the control panel - system info - overview.

I'm running a 1Tb Intel 670P. It seems to operate normally as cache for the storage pool, but I get no Smart statistics for it in the GUI console, so I have to check health and wear level from a ssh session.

Setup:
TOS 5.1.29
T9-423(16GB)
9 x 3TB HGST Ultrastar 7K4000

Can anyone confirm if this M.2 SSD works well on the F4-223?

Crucial P3 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe SSD - Up to 3500MB/s - CT1000P3SSD8

Und noch 8 GB Ram von Terramaster! Terramaster F4-423!
Crucial P2 or P3?

I bought the Transcend TS1TMTE220S 1TB because of the high TBW and because I have good experience with Transcend products.
SSD chips are on both sides.

I created a cache RAID 1, but inspite of that during sync the T6-423 began to beep. And this with thermal pads. Over 70 degree Celsius.

Can you recommend a cooling option? There is not much space. The idea would be to somehow thermal connect the SSD with the massive metal case. But I don't know what could accomplish that.

I'll remove the case and try to cool with a fan and/or a metal cooling option for both sides SSDs.

Is there already a solution for the SSD overheating issue with the T6-423?

Thanks, Michael

If an SSD is under a sustained high workload, it will generate enormous heat. It is recommended that you add a heatsink to your SSD.
something like this:https://www.amazon.com/Heatsink-Support ... 407&sr=8-9

Hi,
the SSDs already overheated during sync.
Will there be enough place in the case for a SSD heatsink? There seems to be not enough place. Did you test the recommended heatsink?
Best, Michael

Just wondering if you used the heat sink recommended (or something else) and how it worked out?
