Re: Add RAM stick and M.2 SSD to F4-423/F2-423
Hi @TMroy
I've just bought a F2-423 and it will be delivered tomorrow. I'd like to also buy at least one M.2 SSD (what are the benefits of using two?) but I can't find out whether I need a 'M' key or 'B' key type M.2? Please could you advise?

It's listed as NVMe (PCIe 3.0 ×1) only, so it needs to be M key.

So I added 2 16gb RAM stick and unit restarted and recognizes them with no problems. I also installed 2 M.2 SSD. My question is; Is there anything I need to do to set them up for caching or is it automatic? TIA

You need to go to "Control Panel - Hyper Cahce" to set it manually.

Would we have to install the nvme drive before we install TOS?
I've had my NAS for about 4 months now, I was thinking about putting an Nvme drive in it. But not if I have to totally set it up again.

Depends on how you intend to use the added NVMe drive; if it's just as additional higher speed storage, expansion of a raid or as a hyper cache, you can add it to your current setup & configure it as needed.bradhoschar wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025, 17:59 Would we have to install the nvme drive before we install TOS?

Add RAM stick and M.2 SSD to F6-424 Max
So to confirm. If I installed (2) 1 TB M.2 SSD's today. I need to go to control panel and format them through the hyper cache link? is there a link to instructions for this?

Are you adding them for the purpose of being a cache to 2 different existing storage pools?Back9Fitness wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025, 04:50… If I installed (2) 1 TB M.2 SSD's today. I need to go to control panel and format them through the hyper cache link? is there a link to instructions for this?
The wizard for the cache within TOS is self-explanatory, so just follow it.

You can refer to the help center instructions to create hyper cache:
https://toshelp.terra-master.com/web/#/en/hyper_cache
Please note that when an SSD is used as a system disk, it cannot be used as a cache disk.
