SSL to webDAV Not Working

Post by tonycasey »

I cannot login to my webDAV share with SSL on TerraMaster F5-421 or F5-422. Same problem on both. I am running TOS 4.2.15-2107221409-P1.18. I also have patch TOS_PATCH_X64_1.18.bz2.

I can login with http: and set up an insecure share to webDAV over DDNS but I cannot do this with https: either with the webDAV client cyberduck, or with windows explorer using port 5443, or other default Terramaster ports like 474 or 475.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for responding.

I have two terramaster NAS. Same problem with both. I am getting SSL certificate untrusted messages for terra-master.com. I have tried installing the certificate when prompted but it makes no difference.

I have default port 5443 assigned to https on both NAS and ports 474 and 475 respectively assigned to webDAV/https on each NAS. All ports forwarded on a Netgear router. All ports open on McAfee firewall.

If I use Chrome to make https: connection on 5443 I get error (see attachment):

NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID and 475

I get a similar message with cyberduck webDAV client (see attachment).

My preference is to just use windows explorer (which also fails) but there are not many useful diagnostic messages.

Hi! From your screenshot, the imported certificate was not successfully applied. You need to import the certificate first, and then set the imported certificate in https and webdav.

Thanks but I already tried that. The reason I have come to the forum is it doesn't work.

1. I already upgraded TOS 4.2.15 with the SSL patch.

2. I updated both the terramaster.com and tnas.link certificates so that they are valid for more than 300 days (see attached).

3. I already tried applying both the terramaster.com and tnas.link certificates to the webDAV service (see attached).

I tried repeating this process but it makes no difference. Windows is giving invalid certificate errors.

Any other ideas?

I have also tried applying the SSL certificats exactly as in your screenshot (see attached).

In that case I get a 405 Not Allowed error message (see attached).

You do not need to switch the WebDAV certificate. You can try to connect using WinSCP client.

Ok. I have tried logging into webDAV service with winSCP but that does not work either. The error messages are more detailed but the message is the same. The terramaster SSL certificates are not trusted (see attached).

It is not going to make any difference using different webDAV clients. So far I have tried:

Chrome
Windows Explorer
FileZilla
CyberDuck
winSCP

All have failed with the terra-master.com certificate being invalid/untrusted.

If I try using the *.tnas.link certificate I just get a 405 Not Allowed message instead

I notice there is a new TOS 4.2.17 released today. So I have tried upgrading from TOS 4.2.15. There is no difference. This does not work either.

I Have two terra-master NAS and it is the same with both when connected with a SSL client. The terra-master.com certificate is invalid/untrusted. The *.tnas.link certificate gives a 405 Not Allowed error message.

The tnas.link certificate is the certificate used for tnas.online login.
Can you use the default WebDAV certificate to use SSL connection normally?

I have already tried that several times. Also already above in this thread. No matter, if I try again with winSCP maybe there are additional error messages you can use.

See attached. Failed again. The webdav certificate is rejected as self-signed / untrusted.

Have you tested any of these certificates on non-development consumer webDAV client PC's? It seems like these certificates are working on your terra-master development environment but not outside.
