Hi to all.
Sorry for my English, I'm Italian.
I have the following NAS: F4-220, updated to the latest TOS version.
It always worked well, but since several days suddenly I can't login via web interface. When I attempt to open the webpage for login I have this error:
"
Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function rand_string() in /usr/www/tos/config/setting.php:41 Stack trace: #0 /usr/www/tos/config/config.php(49): include_once() #1 /usr/www/tos/index.php(2): include_once('/usr/www/tos/co...') #2 {main} thrown in /usr/www/tos/config/setting.php on line 41
"
The SMB login works good, I can do all operations on files and folders: access, copy, paste, etc...
How can I resolve the problem WITHOUT losing the data on the harddrives?
Thank you in advance

Re: Impossible to login via Web Inteface, SMB access working good
You can reinstall your TOS to fix it, see the instructions below:
Please be advised the TOS reinstallation would not erase your data unless you encounter B below.
Power off the NAS, take out the HDD’s, power on the NAS.
Search the NAS IP address by the TNAS PC App, click on the located IP address and click "Login"
When it says no HDD detected, keep the NAS powered on and install your HDD
Next
When it asks if you’d like to install TOS already in the HDD or install new TOS, please select “Install new TOS”. And here there is a message saying the data in the hard drives would be lost, please ignore it, your data won’t be lost by confirming “Yes” to proceed here.
Next
Please download the installation package from this link http://dl.terra-master.com/cn/TOS_S2.0_ ... 301431.ins and choose Manually download and install TOS.(You can also check this post for more information if reinstallation stuck at 11-55% viewtopic.php?f=75&t=921
Set your password and time zone
After that, there are two possibilities:
A. You may be directed to the log in page, please go ahead to log in.
B. You may be directed to the RAID creating page, please STOP here and close the window immediately. Please get back to us, and we will need to remote-in to check.
After the TOS reinstallation, to ensure you can see the data in your hard drives, please check the following:
1. Please ensure the admin user has the R/W permission to the shared folders.
Please go to TOS Control Panel – Privileges – User – select the user and Edit – Permission
2. Please ensure the shared folder’s R/W permission is authorized to the user:
Please go to TOS Control Panel – Privileges – Shared Folder – select the shared folder and Edit – please check in User permission and Group permission accordingly.
3. If you are still unable to see the data, please go to TOS Control Panel – Privileges – Shared Folder – Advanced – Restore to

Re: Impossible to login via Web Inteface, SMB access working good
Hi, Thank you for the reply.
In this period I have not used the nas, today I went to follow the procedure.... and before to start I have a new problem: the NAS has the power LED of green color, the 4 hard disk led of red color, and the LAN led off; the NAS is totally not accessible.
I tried the steps given here:
https://www.terra-master.com/it/faq/cat ... l/?id=3310
the LEDs are all green, but accessing the NAS results in a page that ask to perform the initialization.
I power off then power on the NAS with hard drive inserted, and the situation returned with power on led green, 4 hard disk leds red, lan led off, nas not accessible.
What should I do to solve this new problem?
Thank you for all.

UPDATE
After another reboot the leds are operating correctly now (they are all green), but the NAS is:
-Visible on TNAS PC
-If I try to Login via web interface, I obtain the error: "502 Bad Gateway"
-if I try to connect via Explorer, after I've inserted Username and password, Windows always ask me for the correct username and/or password.
I'm very consfused about whats happening.

Re: Impossible to login via Web Inteface, SMB access working good
I followed the procedure, the first steps are ok, but when I try to reinstall the downloaded package it stuck at 65%, after several minutes at 65% I obtain the following message:
-in Italian (My first Language)
Errore
Impossibile creare una partizione! Per favore riprova. \nSe fallisce ancora, I dischi rigidi potrebbero avere un malfunzionamento. Inizializzare i dischi rigidi e riprovare. Se l'errore persiste, potrebbe essere necessario sostituire i dischi rigidi.
-in English (Translated)
Error
Cannot create a partition! Please try again. \n If it still fails, the hard drives may have a malfunction. Initialize the hard drives and try again. If the error persists, the hard drives may need to be replaced.
I also followed the topic viewtopic.php?f=75&t=921 and downloaded the correct package.
By clicking on "Confirm" I was redirected to inizialization page.
Regarding this "malfunction" of hard drives, before attempting to reinstall TOS the cheking of HDDs results in "At risk" for 2 of them.
Just for completion, my last full manual check on they has been done about 2 months ago, without errors. Moreover the 4 led lights were always green: they should be red in case of hard drive failure, or I'm wrong?

Re: Impossible to login via Web Inteface, SMB access working good
UPDATE!
Today I retryed several times to reinstall TOS, two hard disk are always "at risk". I tried both version 4.1.27 and 4.1.30 of TOS (4.1.30 should be the correct versione for me), but installation stucks always at 65%.
I tried also the solution indicated here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=363
but did'nt work for me (Connection refused).
Suddenly, after several attempts, TOS 4.1.30 installed!!!
The NAS rebooted and...... it is disappeared from the LAN!
Also TNAS PC cant' find it!
Leds are as following:
-Power Led green
-LAN Led off
-Hdds Leds red
Ok, I retried the whole procedure... again....
-Powered off the NAS
-Extracted HDDs
-Powered on the NAS (now the LAN led powered green and nas is visible)
-Message about no HDD available
-Inserted the HDDs while NAS powered on
-All leds are green
-Clicking on the button "Try again" to recheck for HDDs, after several seconds, I obtain the following message: "504 Gateway Time-out"
Ok, I retried the whole procedure... again.... again....

Ok.... I retried the whole procedure... with only one old HDD....
It is reported as "good"
I arrived successfully at the page for set password and Timezone.
Again, retried the whole procedure with the four HDDs... several times....
Now seems that the first hard disk can't terminate the check (remains indefinitely the message "Check in progress....") and I can't go further.
Whats should I do?

I'm curious, you have been told that your drive at risk, this means the system already detected your drive was bad, why you did not fix your drive or replace it with a new one?
Please refer to following articls to fix your drive and select a correct drive.

Re: Impossible to login via Web Inteface, SMB access working good
Hi, Merry Christmas to all guys!
I've checked the first hard drive with manufacturer utility (Western Digital Red HDD checked with WinDLG by Western Digital), there are too many bad sector; it's very strange, hard drive were used occasionally in less than 4 year... Moreover, I never obtained any message by TOS or seen a led red.
I should check also the second hard drive because sometimes it's "at risk" accordingly to TOS.
I reattached the NAS WITHOUT this hdd (only with three HDD) and I finally reached the login interface, datas are accessible again.
Now I think it's the time to buy new hard drives!
At the moment the NAS have 4 Western Digital Red hard drive of 3 Tb each configured in RAID10; my idea is to buy two hard drive (probably of another brand) with capacity of 4 Tb each, then in the future (when the other Western Digital HDD will fail) buy other 2 HDD of 4 Tb each, in order to have 4 Hard Drives of 4 Tb each.
I know that if I install now two HDDs of 4 Tb in Raid10 toghether existant Hard Drives of 3 Tb each, the system will see four HDDs of 3 Tb each.
In this case I don't lose the existing data because the raid set is rebuilt, right?
And another question: if in the future I will replace the remaining two HDDs of 3 Tb with other two HDDs of 4 Tb each, the whole system will see four Hard Drives of 4 Tb each? In RAID10 will be usable 8 Tb?

Re: Impossible to login via Web Inteface, SMB access working good
Another problem.
All the folders seems to have the correct read/write permission, except the "admin" folder, for this one I have read/write permissions only at the first level of subfolders, while I have only read permission on subfolders and file from second level and so on (If I try to paste something or change the name of files/folders in subfolders I obtain the following message from windows --translated from Italian-- : "In order to modify the folder, it's necessary the permission from Unix User\sync")
I followed these steps:
How can I resolve this issue?
