[Discussion] Unable to Access Windows Share After Long File Copy Sessions
The unit runs perfectly for several hours but after copying files onto it for some time, the share in Windows shows a red cross and it is no longer accessible. The network light on the unit and switch still flash but there is no access, and trying to switch it off in the usual way doesn't work. Only way is to hold the power button down until it switches off. You can then power it on and it runs for another 5 to 10 hours saving files then the same happens again.
Re: [Discussion] Unable to Access Windows Share After Long File Copy Sessions
Based on the issue you described—“unable to access data after writing”—we suspect this is most likely caused by shared folder quotas being enabled. When shared folder quotas are enabled, all write, modify, delete, and snapshot operations may require several times the usual processor overhead. If CPU performance is limited, this may affect system stability.
We recommend that you go to TOS > Control Panel > Shared Folders and disable any enabled shared folder quotas.
If you have not enabled shared folder quotas, the issue is most likely related to the file system or the disk. You may want to check the health of your HDD or try repairing the file system:
