[Help] Logrotate gives errors, is this a problem ?

Post by petrose »

I am on newest TOS7 (7.0.0804) and getting these errors, using grep 'rotate' /var/log/syslog | tail:

Code: Select all

Jul 29 12:00:00 SonjaNAS logrotate[34732]: error: collectd:1 duplicate log entry for /var/log/VMs/collectd.log
Jul 29 12:00:00 SonjaNAS logrotate[34732]: error: found error in file collectd, skipping
Jul 29 12:00:00 SonjaNAS logrotate[34732]: error: noVNC:1 duplicate log entry for /var/log/noVNC/vnc.log
Jul 29 12:00:00 SonjaNAS logrotate[34732]: error: found error in file noVNC, skipping
Jul 29 12:00:00 SonjaNAS systemd[1]: logrotate.service: Deactivated successfully.

I wonder if you already know this behaviour ?

Could you let me know what action caused this log to appear?

Here is how I see it. When the NAS is booted (in my case 01:35 each day) and this example VMs collectd.log
The log is created.
But the way the logrotate entry is coded, it doesn't expect collectd.log to exist.
The logrotate.service runs every hour and generates the same error.
