Hello,
Is there TNAS for Ubuntu/Debian and if not is it expected soon?
Also I see in download page https://support.terra-master.com/downlo ... uct=F2-420 there are also links to download TOS installation and update packages.
Do end users need them? Isn't TOS installed on the server from the factory and isn't it updated automatically?
Or we need to install it by our own after buying NAS server and take cate to manually downlaod updates and install them?
TNAS for Ubuntu wanted
Re: TNAS for Ubuntu wanted
TOS is installed on the HDDS and should be installed by the end users. The TNAS is not equipped with HDDs when it's sold, so no TOS is installed. And it will not be updated automatically, users should go to TOS control panel to update it

Re: TNAS for Ubuntu wanted
there is no need to actually use any application on the client computers, i guess the TNAS-PC app is just meant to help people however i have never used it, i just looked up the IP address it was given over DHCP from my router which gives me the list of connected devices and their IP's
TOS is installed on the nas drive which is the Nas drives operating system and this is updated periodically, you access the configuration via a webpage and usually with a NAS drive you create shares
therefore on the client computer all you do is map / access the network share from whatever operating system you want to use as you would any other network resource from a server
just to correct support on their own product !!!!! you do not need to download anything once you have bought the NAS drive, it comes shipped with a version of TOS already installed on a USB chip inside the unit so the unit is not BLANK, when you insert your first hard drive it will install TOS from that built in USB drive onto the hard drive and then the operating system runs from the hard drive, however they do seem to release new versions of TOS quite regulary so no doubt the version it had on is out of date now, so you can either download the updates or go into control panel on the web admin and allow it to download the updates (however they are correct this is a manual check and apply updates, it wont just update and reboot itself)
