I might agree with you about "with beta testers" - BUT & that's a
BIG BUT
This is supposed to be an "
Official Release" - presumably to coincide with the "2024 New Product Line Up. So, in a nutshell, marketing wins out over usability.
Since IO don't have a device which meets the release criteria (officially) I am trying to temper my invective for now. I just consideer the os as being broken and will wait and decide what to do. (ps I even see some of these permissions issues on 5.1, so not too hopeful.)

Moreover, I did not encounter such big problems in the last build, critical problems began in the release version. My ass has never burned like this before, it tears me apart like a hamster from a drop of nicotine)))

Terramaster team what are you doing with permissions? Many people have the same problem like me.
Yesterday my qbittorrent lost permissions to subfolders. And there is no option to set permission manualy to subfolders for qbittorrent. All old torrents has an error. But new torrents is work ... yet.
Today i'm watching film by SMB. After few minuts device lost permissions. During playing film. How it possible? HOW?

I agree, the same problem with access rights to shared folders, plex and qbittorrent

If the SMB process is restarted from failure, where it may drop recently changed permissions; that's how that may be possible.
You'd need to access the logs and possibly dmesg through SSH to see what happened at that exact time it had the issue.

We can't edit posts (shame) so I just wanted to acknowledge that I am actually aware that 'm' comes before 'n' and that my example was messed up. It was late and my brain was fried from dealing with the permissions bugs, ok?!

Hello, I am currently on TOS 6 beta version 6.0.229, I want to upgrade to version 6.0.500 but I don't know how to do it. In settings I am currently getting a message saying there are no updates available. How can I do it?
Thank you

there are big problems with folder access rights on 6.0.500, read the messages in this thread, so it's better not to do this, wait for a new build, it's just not possible to use the system right now.

@abs1ck makes a good point. In any case, if it says "no update" it means that no update has yet been released for your hardware (an unpublished list of "compliant hardware") but many with recent hardware are also in the same boat. So, much better to wait until things are sorted out.
