Updated to .519 today and it seemed to go well with no "show-stoppers" noticed.
I did notice the below 2 issues that needs TM's attention:
1. After update, the SSH port reverts back to the default 9222 and I needed to edit it back to my port number I assigned. This was the same in the last few updates. Not a big deal, but just wanted to report it for a fix.
2. The "Resource Monitor - Network I/O has some display errors that need fixing: (I have the F4-423 LAN ports Bonded 802.3ad)
a. "LAN 1 & 2" display for "Yesterday" are not working = blank.
b. "All" selection MB/s scale for the "Last 30 Days" shows 16 digits and needs to be corrected.
Hoping TM will fix these minor issues in the next version.

All those rushing to upgrade to TOS 6, TOS6 has some serious samba issues with small files, I'd be waiting till that's fixed before rushing to upgrade.. I wish I could run TOS5 but that's impossible on an F8 SSD.. Could just be issues with the NIC in the F8 but who knows. TOS 5 runs well on my F5-422
would you describ the issue by details?
Same for me, new user of F8 SSD Plus, the NAS is very slow managing small files on SMB. No issue with FTP.
No obvious issue when running a benchmark but F8 is very slow when browsing thru folders on Finder, very slow at transferring small files. I doesnt seem to be a bandwidth problem, but more an indexing/reading/creating file issue.
For example when i launch a backup with FreeFileSync, the software first read files for comparison, then creates all folder and finally transfer files. On my former hard drive NAS, reading files is very fast, creating folders is almost instant, and then transferring file takes more time due to bandwidth. On F8 reading files for comparison takes almost 10 times more long, creating folders takes an enormous time (average of 2 folders created per sec!) and then transferring files seems also limited around 2-3 files/sec.
Problem is about the same for me on Windows and macOS.
I would have like to try NFS for comparison, but unfortunately i have another issue here on TOS 6. I cannot see any exports from my mac. NFS is activated, permissions are set on shared folders but cannot get exports list. Tried NFS3, NFS4 NFS4.1
When i look at exports file directly on NAS thru SSH i can see the lines concerning my folders but also lines starting with "" * that seems to interfere with exports publication.

Repeating my friendly request: Would you please be so kind as to provide at least some
details about what the background/root cause of the current SMB slowness issue is, especially as you state you have
already resolved it (great news!

), and until when can expect to see the fix released as a TOS 6.0.x update?
I am not the only one in this forum who would like to see a little more transparency from TerraMaster engineering side - rest assured that it is positive rather than negative for credibility if you give more details about the issue resolution process...
Thanks again for listening!

Sorry for the inconvenience. The problem of slow SMB transferring small files is mainly due to the missing “case sensitive” in the configuration. This will be fixed in a future release.

Could this be achieved, in the short term, by adding as a 'custom configuration' option in the 'advanced' section

My problem was resolved - not by TM support, that is - by someone who provided a 6.0.4xx package, which from then on updated itself to 6.0.519. I am seriously considering moving on to TrueNAS/Unraid/DSM now.
Let me share my experience doing that.. TrueNAS Scale (current version) worked really well, fast over Samba.. BUT, and this is a big but, when I tried to do a backup onto my Synology NAS the Samba service (TrueNAS Scale) kept shutting down, a server you can't backup is useless.. I'm now trying Unraid.. after much experimenting to get ZFS setup I have found its slower than TrueNAS Scale but much faster than the current TOS 6.. I can also back it up to the Synology..
To be honest unless you have a lot of experience with these softwares, and a heap of free time, you will find it's a very steep learning curve.. I mean to even do a Rsync backup is a complicated mess.. by the way I have spent 2 weeks on this..
Once they sort the stack issue with TOS 6 I will go back to it, it's a lot easier to use.... but for now I'm running Unraid..it's not ideal but it's the best of a bad batch.. Hopefully TOS is fixed before my 30 day trial runs out!

Really? this was the email I got from Terramaster support on the 25th and it seems to indicate a fix isn't close.. "The issues are still being investigated and fixed, and it may be some time before a fixed TOS version is released."
I have been testing setups for them.. this was after we confirmed FTP worked as expected..

This does not directly solve the problem, as it may not be the only factor. Please wait for a future release.
