FYI: Email notification is working satisfactorily. Tested both 'local' and custom just now.

Good morning, I have F8 SSD PPLUS with 650 version, when updating it decompresses and I lose connection with the NAS ... I wait 10 minutes and I have to turn off and turn on to be able to access it and the version has not been updated ... Follow the 650

Hello:

We've been experiencing the problem since TOS 6, with email notifications not working. They don't work via local or custom SMTP. I'm trying it, and nothing has worked since TOS 5.

Please explain how you're getting notifications.

I'd also like to add that when I set the custom SMTP option, it deletes the password field and won't let me send test emails.

Ok, thanks for testing.

On my side I can only test with local as I can't apply any changes on notifications, the button is grayed out with a forbidden icon.
I tried with several browsers but the issue is the same.

Also, I see this error in the web console "failed to sn.smtp.GetEmailConfig(HandleGetMailServer): failed to get key: failed to get section key: error when getting key of section "system": key "mailconfig" not exists"

Notifications were perfectly working on TOS 5.

Is it possible to change the notifications settings by directly modifying a config file in CLI?

I'd like to add that the custom server does work with Gmail, following the excellent OutkasTM tutorial

https://tmnascommunity.eu/2025/01/08/ho ... l-in-tos6/

The local server is still down. Do you know when it will be repaired?

Re: Email Notifications.
There are numerous reasons why email notification can fail. Incorrect setup, mail provider interference (Gmail for example), isp blocking ports. I am not saying that this process was not flawed in the past, but more recent Tos updates have shown that the methods have been fixed, to all intents and purposes. I can only observe, now, that I find that it works.
I'd also like to add that when I set the custom SMTP option, it deletes the password field and won't let me send test emails.
-- Enter the config, user and password, Send a test, Apply. (In that order)

Maybe post a screen shot (as a new subject since, really, it is off topic regards this update)

Obvious problems could be that you won't get notifications if this section is not enabled and specific notifications within the section are enabled. Ensure that when using 'custom' you get the correct ports for your service AND that authentication is correctly set (Hint: If you are using only port 25, you should not need 'custom'. Use 'custom' for TLS/SSL authentication.) (Another Hint: TLS/SSL is right at the bottom of the page and best expand dialogue so you can see it. '---' doesn't do anything. Ensure TLS/SSL is selected AND stays selected.)

And, of course, make sure your Admin Email address is correctly configured. ;)

If you are seeing 'local' as being a problem I wonder if this is geographical blocking on one side or other.
