Hello I upgraded my NAS from an F2-221 to a newer F2-425 (non-Plus) model and connected my D4-300 DAS to it. The system detects that the DAS is attached, and I can see my files through the file manager. However, when I try to add the files to my Plex server, I can see the USB device and its folders, but none of the media content appears. I didnt have this issue with the f2-221 server it was showing my mounted usb's and i was able to add them.

Ok looks like when i create a new folder and transfer the media to that newly created on it finds the media now. not sure why its working that way maybe the folder itself it having an issue.

I'm glad you solved this problem. The inability to scan content in the media library is usually related to folder permissions.

I just installed Plex on my F4-425 running TOS 6.

It did not create a new user “plex”: Step 3 in the instructions can’t be followed. Plex cannot access the folders in my “media” shared folder
3. Configure permissions for the newly created "video" shared folder: Edit the newly created shared folder and set the read and write permissions for the application user "plex" that is automatically generated during the installation. If the permissions for the plex user are not set, the Plex Media Server will be unable to scan the media files in that directory while running.

How do i setup Plex on the TerraMaster? Thanks.

Look for the entry named plex in the user list. In TOS 6, application users are usually mixed with regular users or marked with a special icon.

4. Grant permissions: Check the "Read & Write" permission for the plex user and save the settings.

Ah. (Emby did this configuration automatically.) Thanks, that got me close enough to then figure it out. The way to do this in TOS 6 for Plex is:

Control Panel > Shared Folder > [Folder] > Edit > Permissions > Application user (in drop down) > plex > Check Read / Write
