If there are processes continuously accessing the volume, HyperCache may not be able to deleted. This is a known issue, and we will add prompts in future updates to guide you on how to stop the relevant processes or services. As for your other questions, I cannot provide answers at the moment because I don't know the reasons.

T H A N K Y O U ! ! !
Currently it tells me to ensure nothing is using the disk. But does not tell me how to check and what to do if I find something. It is akin to the "check engine" light on your car.
As per my previous post I did try to delete the cache but the system did weird things then became fine again. But the hypercache was never removed/deleted. But the system has been fine since (it has been nearly a month).

Yesterday I installed a new F2-425 NAS with a single 6TB hard drive. This was to replace my old F2-204E. I Use the drive primarily for a PLEX library and the old drive was just not up to the task of transcoding HVEC.
Initially the install went well, a few different things and TOS6 is obviously different to 4 that I was using. But I got it all installed with a couple of warnings to sort out later and started transferring files to the new drive. (I hold a master copy of the files on my windows 10 PC). Initially I started transferring the files in some sort of date order so as to try not to lose the PLEX 'date added' order (which I find usefull). It was all going well (after I worked out that Plex wanted the files under it's own directory). I even managed to do a couple of successful tests of the new systems 'transcoding' speed from a couple of h265 (HEVC) files. All looked promising, until, I had transferred about 5000 files, approx 270GB, then suddenly the system started to 'misbehave'. It started throwing 0x8007003B errors on virtually every file transfer attempt, the TNAS 'Load' started showing as 100% (sluggish, is a mild term for it!). As an ex tech support person, I started searching the internet, and quickly discovered that this seems to be a bit of a 'known' issue, but with seemingly NO solutions. I have tried a couple of suggested things, but nothing seems to help. I am open to any suggestions. Like the previous poster, I believe that for what I am using this box for, it should pretty much just work! Out of the box as it were. I am very close close to sending the box back to Amazon and starting again with a different manufacturer (hassle or no hassle). Currently (and with no difference that I can understand to when it DID work), If I try to copy another file, the 'load' climbs steadily towards 100% and at some point the copy fails (0x8007003B)!!
So please Terramaster, give me a simple, quick solution that just works, or this useless box is going back!
[PS. I am becoming more convinced that this is something to do with SMB but don't know what or how (or why) it suddenly changed after several hours of file transfers!?]

Are you using an encrypted shared folder to transfer data? This error is usually related to network communication issues. Please go to TOS > Technical Support > Problem Report to generate and download the log report, and then send it to our technical support email (
[email protected]) for analysis. You can also try modifying the minimum version of the SMB protocol to SMB2, or consider using FTP for the transfer.
